Iomega's Micro Mini Hard Drives
Iomega is busting out some new credit card sized (2.75 x 2.01 x 0.56-inches)
miniature hard drives, cleverly billed as
Micro Mini Hard Drives. We're voting for the next iteration to include "eensy weensy" in the title, but we're pretty
happy with the specs; they're packing up to 8GB in these 1.75 ounce drives, which have a fold out USB 2.0 plug to power
the drive, and drop shock tech for some extra protection. The 1-inch drive spins at 4200 RPM, and comes in 4GB and 8GB
capacities going for $130 and $170 respectively.

For that much money, you're better off getting an iPod and using the drive as storage with the bonus of portable music.

an ipod would cost more, and if you don't need music then it's not a bad deal.
a 4GB nano costs $250, a 2GB nano costs $200, both prices are more than the 8 GB iomega.
plus, i'm sure iomega could use a nice boost since Zip failed.

I still harbor a certain resentment against Iomega since i bought that HipZip 40Mb mp3 player, and i feel I'd regret buying one of these in a very similar way.

Oh wow! I thought Iomega died with the Zip years ago... stay dead dammit! I loathe you, Iomega.

I don't know how many comments you get on your humor around here, but the "eensy weensy" line had me spraying Cran-grape juice all over my keyboard. Nice one.

In an unexpected windfall announcement, Iomega announced today the EWED (eensy weensy electronic drive) About the size of an iPod Shuffle and with a push button pop out usb connector the Eensy Weensy packs 40MB and comes in 3 different flavors: black, white and polka-dotted bikini...

That's the most useless product page. Evar.
If one of your selling points is the small size of the product, wouldn't it freakin' make sense to tell people exactly how small your product is. Wallet size can mean quite a few things. Give me the dimensions and the exact weight.
Pricewise it looks ok, just not sure if it's small enough for me. The Monstor 8GB one looks smaller.

I have a 20GB Archos drive I paid $100 for at CC. It is 1.9X1.9X.5 ! Yes .5".
I think the normal price is $200 though. They have a 40GB one too that is a little thicker for $300 ish.
Apple has reconditioned 20 GB for $200 too.
I would also like IOmega to die. :)
fastm3driver @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
did I say .5" I ment .35". The 40 gb is .45".
The price is $180 and $200 on their site. www. archos.com
I stopped using CD's as soon as I got mine.

It's just called Micro Mini?
I would have though they would have called it Nano Mini iDrive...

Iomega is the KING of a day late and a dollar short. A year ago this would have been a killer. Then again, a year ago it wouldn't have been an Iomega. After a long successful relationship with a Bernoulli Box followed by two failed Zip drives, a failed Jaz drive and four failed PocketZip drives (which, fortunately, I got for free)my zeal for storing anything I ever care to see again on any product with the name Iomega on it is severly diminished.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I think the exact weight is listed.
