Engadget Chinese just spotted another keeper for our growing gallery of cellphone fakes: a knock-off Motorola RAZR called the V500 that's just slightly smaller than the real deal - and costs 1/3 as much.

so its better in every way
Whoo! I want one.
the question is... where can I get one?
Where do I get one?? Does it work?? Sounds like a good deal to me!
i wonder if it has edge
dislike it, and ruins the razr, so what company made it?
If you look very closely at the bottom of it's screen it says GPRS, so no edge :(
See thats a MUCH better phone.
its more like the new updated razr (V3i or something?)
it has 1.3 mega pixel cam, micro sd slot, records mpeg 4 videos, and probably plays them back too. sounds like a much better alternative to me!
Of course it costs 1/3 as much. The Razr isn't remarkable or uniquely manufactured in any way. It only cost what it did at launch because it was promoted as a "fashon phone." Same as the v60 and v70 when they came out. A year later they're $99 or free with a contract.
I wholeheartedly encourage these kinds of knockoffs. Especially the ones that are actually better than the originals, as this appears to be.
I'd be interested if it uses a better OS than Motorola phones.
yeah, where can we buy it!?
China.
I see more and more real fake phones here in southwest China. I wouldn't buy any of those, they might look good outside and in features, but the build quality is horrible.
So can somebody get round to making a fake Nokia 8800.. that's what I really want. lol
I'm curious what software and UI this thing has. It MUST be better and more user friendly than the Motorola UI :-)
"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"
I find knock-offs are intriguing because the products (most of the time) try to improve upon the product they are trying to imitate.

Name an American brand. Any brand, and any kind of product.
Clothing, computer chips, car parts. Just name it and well tell you something about it. Its probably being counterfeited in China, right now, as we speak. For years, China has been the workshop of the world. And for years, American and other western firms have set up shop in China to tap into the enormous, cheap labor force. The question is once the Chinese know how to make an American product, whats to stop them from copying it? The answer? Nothing at all. And what's to prevent the Chinese from shipping these counterfeits back to the United States? Not much, reports correspondent Bob Simon. - from 60 Minutes II, aired January 2004 on CBS
attempt to translate the features from Chinese:
65k colour STN exterior screen; 176x220, 260k colour TFT; 64-bit polyphony; MP3/MP4 playback; dedicated camera key; 1.3 megapixel CMOS camera; 64MB built in memory; T-Flash expansion; costs RMB 2375 - US$293 (still not exactly cheap!).
the major problem (besides copyright) is no bluetooth and no IR - so looks like no PC sync, then. and probably the OS will all be in Chinese lol
hey these pirate products keep costs down for consumers!!! anyone who tells you otherwise has been smoking too much green wrapped in corporate EULA's.... (by green i mean money what the hell did you think i meant?!?)
1/3 the cost? dat means i can buy about 3 China imitations of the fashion phones(whatever the brand is).. who cares rite? u get 3 phones for the price of 1 original.. it's really a good deal..i won even care about the functions as long as they look good in you..plus with 3 phones, u can suit ur phone according to your dressing/likings.. dat is soo cool..im going to shanghai for xmas..will definitely find out where i can buy those phones... 3 new phones for xmas! yuhoo!!!
i don't know....this thing doesn't really look legit to me....but it seems to be from a "trusted" site......so....this phone is also thicker than the razr.....but it does finally come with a slot for microSD on the OUTSIDE!!!......all those annoying rituals of removing the cover, taking out the battery, sliding back the dysfuntional cage for the card, and putting it all back together....*sigh*.....the best improvement to that was in the RAZR V3x where the card-cage is at least next to the battery, and not under it.......yes, i have a RAZR V3x.....and it's not for sale.......and why do you guys keep saying that the ui is better than motorola and stuff???......THIS PHONE IS FROM MOTOROLA!!!....DO YOU NOT SEE THE SILVER MOTOROLA LOGO ON THE FRONT OF THE PHONE??!?!!??...........yea.......the chinese phones aren't any better...believe me....i have some......so......that's all i have to say....
lilazndrummerboy, you are confused.
cheesok, wow. take a deep breath. also, you don't need 3 phones. and, its not really 1/3 the price.
So instead of the Samsung knock off that's ugly and big, this one is actually smaller?
Where do I buy one?
From the pictures of the phone on the chinese site, the phone reads "Digital Innovation" on the top...whatever that is. Probably another knockoff company? I'm placing bets it's probably from Taiwan.
Funny thay call themselves "Digital Inovation"...
If you actually click the link to see the side pictures, it's at least 50% thicker than a razr, so they missed the razr's single biggest selling point, its "pocketability"...
Does anyone know who makes the phone and if it's made in China or Taiwan?
hey alek....why am i confused?...and about what?...
How can it be a knockoff if it works just as well, is smaller and cheaper?
i want one!! please someone tell tell me where to get one and how much???$$$$ motorola v3x
