The NES controller DAP
You know, people will turn an NES controller into just about anything, and lord knows we love 'em for it. This dude apparently got bored one Saturday and figured what else does one do on such a day but turn a cheap USB stick MP3 player into an NES DAP? Indeed. Witness the fruit of Martin's efforts, fully controllable by the NES controller's buttons and chargeable via USB, and then go figure out how to make yourselves more useful on boring Saturdays, will ya?

Nice, I wonder how hard it was to make it.
Hmm...
Richie @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
Hillarious.

Maybe they can help me make a HD Mp3player out of my full size Xbox controller(?)
sherlockmcbride @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
Well... that's all well and good, but he should've added an LCD screen too.
narco @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
Along with a Saint Vitus record and everything.

Weak. Now if it was ALSO a USB nintendo controller, THEN he would be deserving of props. A brick mp3 player (points for functioning buttons though) is only deserving of a meh.
ez @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
and you HAD to use the lame iPod buds?
wow
Andrew B @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
I completely agree with #7. When I saw the picture, I couldn't figure out why he ruined the old school appeal with a generic set of iPod headphones.

Narco,
Please stop using "fishes" at the end of your posts its really upsetting my karma ! - what does it mean anyway ?

not weak.
but he should have used the old school red/blue and black gameboy earphones.
pyrthas @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
Interestingly, those are the headphones I still use with my mp3 player. The ones that came with it broke, and my gameboy set were the first I found lying around.
Damon @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
I would sport this. Minus the iPod headphones, of course.
Jonathan @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
Any idea on how to actually make this?... i wanna try it
morgan @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
So #6, what have you built?
Boris @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
I bet his server stats exploded, considering this item was featured on Kotaku, Joystiq and, well, pretty much any other gmaing blog.
Pelle @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
Ain't this ? nice? I mean - NES is enough retro to be cool - very cool - and an MP3-player is something everybody walks around with. Combining them both gives you the best of today combined with the best of yesterday. The only thing missing is something from tomorrow now...
Joe @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
NES Controller MP3 Belt Buckle. Make it so!
SD @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
I agree with Joe, that would be sweet.
Now, if i was a fat greasy nerd who had to try to make himself feel better about his lame life, i would be saying things like "Weak." or "and you HAD to use the lame iPod buds?" or "fishes".
ceno @ Dec 19th 2005 1:26AM
Hey, that's really cool! ^__^
I also made a NES USB Stick some time ago,
(check link) but this little unit here really rocks!
I just wonder if you really had to open the whole
thing just to put some new MP3s on it? -_-
Anyways - great job! :)

Does anybody know a good website to get an NES controller with a USB porn tip on it? I've seen them for like $26 (before shipping) but there has GOT to be a site that has them for cheaper than that. Please drop me a line if you can help. ragemanchoo@hotmail.com
