Tele + tablet = Intel Surf Guitar
What's up with Intel brah? First they rolled out the ridiculous Centrino surfboard, now they bring the Surf Guitar — a concept Fender Telecaster with a Centrino-based tablet PC built-in. Users can download riffs via the Internet or directly off the tablet's sound library for full-on Robert Palmer ornamental axing. Look Intel, we get it…your Centrino technology platform allows us to surf without wires. Now please put down the bong and spare us from any more surf-inspired products concepts, mkay? And if we find your CES booth staffed with 17th century Napa-enabled agro-peasants named Vint then we're just going to walk away, hear?

dan @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
yes, that's most definitely a telecaster.
mickster @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
Thus was born (hold on...wait for it...wait for it...okay):
The Fender InTelecaster!
I RULE!
But seriously, this will be pretty cool if it has a whole MIDI control and can work with Apple's Garage Band...
fatpatns @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
Indeed, its a Tele
Fred @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
That's probably why intel picked that guitar "Intelecaster"
Those dorks.
Bubba @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
Country folk, the primary users of Telecasters, don't surf the internet let alone use a computer. Plus, their belt buckle would do a number on the screen.
dreampc @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
Put a tablet in an accordian, and I'm sold!
J. Weisser (fraggedbylaggers) @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
talk about stupid...
TheBlunderbuss @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
It would be REALLY cool if the computer served the guitar directly, in a musical way.
Ahem

But does it take pictures?

Aren't people fed up enough at seeing a computer at work......
tim @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
With all the vibrations from the strings, I don't think the computer could handle it, unless it has flash based storage. even then, I don't think it will stay in good shape that long. I agree witht he scratches with the belt buckle thing. I don't even have a huge belt buckle or anything, but my guitar definattly shows where my "path that leads to righteousness" hits the guitar. I don't know why anyone would need this built in though, I mean, get a guitar, and get a tablet. It's not like musicians arn't used to lugging around lots of equipment.

'Country folk, the primary users of Telecasters...'
... The most ignorant thing said today. Telecasters are widely used in all genres of popular music. George Harrison to Muddy Waters... this guy's plain ign'ant and he can use the internet. I wouldn't throw stones living in a glass house.
I might be biased because I own a Tele and prefer jazz and blues over country.
Although I do agree with the belt buckle comment, that would do quite a number on the screen.
rodJoh. @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
This actually looks more interesting than the surfboard.
james @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
hey, i know, put a tablet in a camel...then you'd have a "surfin' safari"...
someone should walk into intel and tell them to stick with what they know. That "surfboard" thing they did last year was brutal...in my opinion, there is nothing cool about this either...sorry...
