Ok, so maybe you weren't lined up outside of CompUSA at 4am this morning to score that $9.99 Bluetooth headset, but
we bet a lot of you out there found some sweet deals on gadgets and electronics today, and we want to hear about 'em
(with links to online deals, too).
oh i forgot i didnt get home from compusa till 3am and stop by walmart but decided to go home and sleep hey it work out i woke up at 9 and went to walmart to look for the 68 dollar portable dvd player... yea right im sure they are all gone nope i walk around and someone set it down....ha patience is the key
Showed up at Staples (Carlisle, PA) at about 5:45 AM hoping for the Samsung monitor. There was about 50 people in front of me and according to the manager, the store had "5 or 6." Nice, Staples- Way to tease.
I picked out some other, non door-bustery stuff and then looked at the checkout line and promptly dropped it and walked out.
Went home, ordered my non door-bustery stuff from staples.com and picked up the benq monitor for 199 from newegg.
I just bought a bunch of DVDs @ Circuit City for 5 dollars.
Oh, and I raided the outlet malls @ San Marcos. Got leather calfskin gloves with cashmere lining for 30 bucks. MSRP = 88. :-D That, and a nice shirt. ;-)
After spending the night yelling at 14 year olds on halo 2, I decided it was time to go at 2:30. Everything was dead quiet around my neighborhood so I figured I could take my time so I filled up my tank halfway for 15$ then proceeded out to Maplewood, Minnesota to the local best buy there. I got a nice place in the front row but there was already ≈ 50 people in line @ 16°F. Some dude in line said there was 1000+ people at compUSA's opening time. Got a free "geek squad" agent t-shirt. Unfortunately there is no staples around here, (ironically still on commercials) I hoped to get the samsung 19" lcd. Good thing BB lowered their advertised price for 200$ AR. I was third in snagging it. Also picked up "Apollo 13" for like 8$ and 75 dvd-r + 25 cd-r pack for like 4$ AR. Seeing an ass-load of people flogging the double-entranced doors spurred my fight or flight response so I headed for kitchen appliance aisle checkout. Waited there for about 20 mins. The guy in front of me was bragging about how he got his crappy season of "24" for some stupid price. Went to bed then got up at 3 and went to Target to get "apples to apples" for 20$ and a ge optical mouse for 10$ since newegg's logitech MX-518 order wasn't coming until monday. (ordered 11/19 @ 3-day shipping mind you) Had fun driving my rear-wheel drive thunderbird with real crappy firestone tires on fresh, un-plowed 2" of snow on south white bear avenue.
What Black Friday? I had 2 beautiful girls in my apartment the night before for a wild m?ge-?rois... I woke up with one of them around 11:00 and she decided to spend the day with me. She cooked, we drank wine and smoke some good weed... And more sex until the evening hours until she had enough and she went home. That's much better than standing in line for hours for a freakin' 378$ laptop.
Hmmm..
Feel sorry for anyone that line up out there
Was up at midnight
sat on the computer
went to dell got a really good laptop for 399
got 1gb usb for 20 on another site
got 108mps wireless router on another site for 30 also reacieve free wireless adapter
got 5 mp canon sd400 for 200
got 512 SDcard 20
No need to wait in line feel soooo goood
In the BB line at 3am. Scored the 42" plasma for $999, the desktop for $150, three 1GB flash drives for $40 each ($20 MIR if I can swing three) and the 160GB external hdd for $70 AR. my friend also got the desktop and a bunch of other stuff. I can't believe we fit it all into a CIVIC! Now i've got to get rid of my 30" hdtv lcd.
Got a 2.99 compusa brand wireless G router, sure it's not linksys but for 2.99! Been using it about a day so far works like a charm, similar interfaces to the more popular ones.
Got a 2.99 compusa brand wireless G router, sure it's not linksys but for 2.99! Been using it about a day so far works like a charm, similar interfaces to the more popular ones.
i didn't wait, but my mom and dad did (somebody hyped them up).
they ended up getting 2 gateway laptops for 579 each. 2 emachines desktops with monitor and printer for 150. they also said that they were given $100 mail in rebates for the computers. $50?!?!? 3 black razr phones, some kind of sony ericsson phone, $129 5.0 mp camera, and of course probably bought USB cables for 20 dollars EACH! and nearly talked into buying all that best buy warranty crap.
I went to MircoCenter at 11:00am, all the deals are gone but they had 37" Syntax Olevia LCD HVS (HDMI, 2 built-in tuners, etc) on sale for $999. My friend bought one. I thought it was a pretty sweet deal.
Me and my family is big about black friday. It's more of a bonding experience than saving money. me and my cousin were in line at bestbuy, we managed to get 2 of the $380 laptops, 12 of the $40 mp3 players, 2 $999 42" plasmas, 1 $450 projector and a bunch more little stuff. my parents went to different stores. In the end we ended up with 6 laptops for under 400 each. and a bunch of desktops. and a ton of flash drives and mp3 players.
CompUSA was supposed to be selling, the XM Roady 2 for 29.99 with a $30 rebate = free. Bunch of us went at midnight for the big sale. the XM units were marked wrong for $9.99, and still got the $30 rebate! CompUSA paid me $20 to take a Roady out of the store. Score, Miller 1, CompUSA 0!
My fiancee and I went to a 24-hour Walmart in Indianapolis at 3:00 on Friday morning to get two of the $398 laptops (one for her and one for my grandmother). It was sweet because everyone lined up in front of a table for whatever product they wanted. Noone was really crabby because we were all warm. Still got kinda crazy when the sales started at 5am though. Ended up being 21st and 22nd out of only 25 total laptops.
I gotta say though, I threw a couple of 512mb pc2700 sticks in hers and it runs really well. The only problem I have with it is that the keyboard seems loose on the down arrow. It seems to be an issue with both of them. Does anyone else have this problem?
i lined up in front of bestbuy from 3am, knocked down 2 old ladies, wrestled with 3 guys, just for the hell of it. doors opened at 6am, i knocked more people down, cut in lines, and beat down a guy because he took the last laptop. i ended up dishing out $5000 using a credit card i stole. i had more fun than all you losers, and i didnt pay a penny.

The only year I worked retail (department store), I decided that I would never be one of the slobbering, penny-pinching consumers on the other side of the counter on Black Friday. Elderly people were honest-to-god MOWED down and TRAMPLED on on Friday at my local Wal-Mart. I can get just as good deals from Amazon, Newegg, Xoxide, Deallist, etc... so why am I going to go stand in line in subzero temperatures at 4 in the morning to take part in the consumerism madness???
Hint: that's a rhetorical question.
My Friday went like this:
Got up at 11, grabbed a cup of tea, checked email while sitting nice and WARM (read that as, not standing out in the freezing cold for 3 hours) at my desk at home, went to lunch at Friday's with the family, and finished getting the leaves out to the curb. My four day weekends are for relaxing, not the americanized version of the running with the bulls.
I can't wait till next year's relaxing Black Friday :)
I was on vacation to Chicago, IL. Cousin took me to Best Buy at around 3PM or so. He bought me a 60GB Video iPod for 399.99$. What's the big deal, go make some money by doing well in school and studying. And if you're old, go search for a better job, there is a higher paying open job for you, you're just too lazy to look.

Too bad you payed $378 for the company of those ladies.
After working the Target electronics department on Black Friday morning four years ago, I refuse to set foot in a store for a few days after Thanksgiving.
(I was almost shoved into the video game display case by overweight mothers.)
I bought a Gateway MX6030 laptop, comes with a DVD Dual Layered Burner, 15.4" Widescreen, 512 MB DDR Ram, 60GB Hard Drive. 1.4GHZ Celeron M processor with 400mhz system bus. all for $579, not bad for standing outside of bestbuy at 3:30am in the morning. Of course I was a late one. The first person standing in the front of the line was there from the previous day at 4:30pm. That's crazy.
OMG, I've just noticed that stores will open earlier than last year in Black Friday! Have you watched this news which show the stores' schedule for Black Friday? http://www.weshow.com/us/p/24241/earlier_black_friday Very useful... They also say that 25% American will spend even more than last year in Black Friday. I'll certainly do! I can't wait to this day.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.

These were the laptop deals to be had on Friday:
- Walmart: 15" XGA AMD Sempron 40GB HP = $378
- CompUSA: 14" WXGA AMD Semprom 40GB Compaq = $299
- BestBuy: 15" XGA Celeron 40GB Toshiba $379
- Circuit City: 15" XGA Celeron 40GB Toshiba $299
Apparently Office Max and Staples had similar deals. Apparently all of the above sold out under mass frenzied pressure.
I didn't get any. I didn't even try.
