I've had one for a month now and have zero complaints. It does read directly off memory cards without copying to the frame's internal memory. I put 900 pictures on an old 64 mb memory card and it cycles through them all nicely.

Workflow for copying pictures to memory card:
1 - create a new folder and copy pictures into it
2 - use the windows xp Image Resizer power toy to quickly resize all images in batch to 720 x 480 (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx)
3 - move pictures to memory card and enjoy!
