Hands-on with the Nokia N92
Ok, it was our turn to play with the Nokia N92, they had a couple on hand at Nokia's analyst event here in New York today. There's no denying that this is one big handset (you've got to squeeze that digital TV tuner in there somewhere) and the keypad is not so hot, but they definitely delivered on the mobile TV experience. The display on the N92 is crisp and bright, and since the video is broadcast rather than streamed (we watched some live NBC courtesy of a DVB-H node that Nokia setup for the event) there isn't any of the stuttering or caching you sometimes have to deal with when you stream video over a cellular connection. Hey Gents.
My name is Trevor, and I was wondering if this damned Nokia N92 will be able to function in North America???I'm told that it's for Europeans only. That the DMB isn't compatible with our nretworks?
Also, can you tell me if the thing can pick up digital signal anywhere it's available for free?Just one more thing, can it pick up regualr t.v signals?
Thanks guys, keep up the good work!!
Crown Castle is rolling out DVB-H service in New York City now. They will offer wholesale broadcasting to wireless carriers in the first half of 2006. Carriers will resell to consumers for a flat monthly fee. According to this page:
http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,,018-2776,00.html?model=N92
the N92 uses OMA DRM - not Windows DRM. Crown Castle uses Windows DRM so until the N92 is "upgraded" it will not work with the Crown Castle network. The N90 is going to support Windows DRM in Q1 of 2006, but I don't know about the N92.
where can i buy it??????????????????
that phone is just so cool
Damn this fone sure as hell looks hot only if i could get rid of the 9500 on my hand and i so regret pre orederin on the n91 any word on the release of this new contraption in the usa?
