iTunes-capable ROKR E2 is starting to surface, and it looks like the fuzzy pic we
posted a few days ago is indeed what the phone will look
like. According to AppleInsider, Moto showed off the E2 to investors last month, and highlighted several features,
including Bluetooth and USB 2.0 support. Of course, given that, as AppleInsider points out, Moto is planning several
other phones with iTunes support — including the SLVR L7
and RAZR 2 — we have to wonder why Moto doesn't just kill
the ROKR marque altogether. After all, it's not like
it's brought them a whole lot of success in the past.

Reminds me of a E1000 just 2.5G with no camera on the front and buttons on the side also a bit more shiny black on the bottom half.

Success in the past? There was only one phone. Also, it's not a market to fully succeed in, just one to have presence in.
i bet the ROKR mark means it comes with built in speakers or headphones or something, whereas the other phones will just have the software and some sort of headphone jack. like moto could make an E2 that is just the phone and some kind of standard headphones and the ROKR E2 with stereo speakers and bluetoth headphone support, letting them charge more for the same basic phone.
I thought that the reason why the original ROKR was so bad was because it was rushed to market - yet this phone looks no better.
iTunes support was a massive coup for Motorola, but I can't help feel that they've wasted its potential. They seem intent on releasing mediocre phones which ride on the iTunes name without delivering on what the iTunes brand promises the consumer.
It's amazing how Sony Ericsson managed to get everything so right with it's W800i music phone and how Motorola got it so badly wrong with it's ROKR series.
Motorola can’t be serious. Incredibly, in some strange way, this phone is even more unappealing than the dreadful ROKR phone they currently have. This phone will be a Titanic failure.
Why don't they make something worthy of the four-letter name (i.e. RAZR, SLVR, PEBL) and stick iTunes on it! They are putting new technology on a phone that looks 5 years old! It's disgusting, I saw this and I was just like WTF. They can't be serious.
To tell you the truth the rokr looks bad but this one looks a little better they should think about that one a little bit more.

It seems like Motorola will keep milking this dead cow. It does not look anymore appealing than the first ROKR. And i will not buy it. And Being a Cingular customer i am disapointed but not surprised. I guess i will have to buy the W600i another mediocre phone... :( damn why did T-mobile get the W800? That is a great phone that is to pricey to buy and unlock.
Yeah, it's totally not a flip-phone, WTF are they thinking?!? AND, it's not even matte SILVER PLASTIC, that's what modern phones look like. I'd bet some janitor at moto walked by a designer's desk and spilled coffee on his sketch pad, creating the design and causing this phone to now be produced. I mean, come on, it's not like cell phone design isn't a multi-billion dollar industry or anything.
Why does it have to be so ugly?
Is there some hidden agreement with Apple and Motorola that says that Motorola cannot release a ROKR phone that is even 1/1000 as attractively styled as a genuine Apple product so as to guarentee that NOTHING will ever cut into the iPOD's (and rumoured iPHONE) sales?
It has to be something like that because we've all seen that Motorola CAN make a pretty phone... RAZR, PEBL, SLVR ect... yet the ROKR series is comprised of the ugliest phones Motorola has come up with...

Hey! At least I can pronounce 'ROKR' 'PEBL' and 'RAZR'! Try to remember which Samsung A-SC-56473039 or whatever model. This is progress.
And I think the phone looks cool. But since I have Verizon, I won't be buying this one either, I suppose.
