The diamond-encrusted iPod nano
You know we won't rest until we see every gadget either
diamond-encrusted,
gold-plated, or both. Do you hear us? Never!
This iPod nano case sports 580 diamonds set in
white gold, and luckily the $12,495 price tag includes a 4GB nano in the bargain.

At least the face won't get scratched now...
David T @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
that'll take care of the scratching, i hope!
Chris @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
Well yeah, it does have a 10 on the Moh Hardness Scale.. unlike the normal iPod nano that I think has a -20 :P
Glad I got my 6GB Mini a couple days after the nano came out, that thing doesn't have a scratch on it and it's never been in a case.
Chuck @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
It will scratch everything else instead of being scratched by everything.
Blake F @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM

sisyphus @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM

It is Engadget's duty to show has blinged-out tech gadgets and Hello Kitty stuff or no one else will!
Chir @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
I can imagine it now...
Buy our case and get a free iPod nano.
Whoa? How much does the case cost?
$12,495
William Watkins @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
Just dont drop it. For the price of 1 diamond encrusted ipod nano you could get almost 50 4gig nanos, either way the thing plays music. ill keep the 12,245 and spend it on a life time of ipods
CaptainObvious @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
Hey, at least it won't get scratched now.

Bee @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
Yo. I think you need to spend some more time in "univ."
Seeing that your spelling and grammar could use just a little bit of work. Good luck with that.
RohitK @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
Okay. Here's another scratch joke:
Q: What gets scratched easier than an iPod Nano?
A: 2 iPod Nanos!!
:P
stabani @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
Why use a black ipod nano? why not a white one??

Shane Todd @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
Let's see, I could spend 12,500 on a new diamond encrusted iPod nano, or I could do something like this:
New iPod Nano: $250
New Honda Interceptor: $10500.
And I'd still have over $1000 to spend on the insurance policy for the Honda.
Gobber @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
Thing is, no one with any style or sense would buy this thing (it's a case the Nano sits in, not diamonds attached to it). The Nano on its own has more style and class than this tacky bit of jewellery - no matter how much it costs (money isn't everything!).
The only people that would buy this are those that think gold shell suits and 'bling' are fashionable. Style is all about looking good without having to shine it up, less is more etc.
Anyone buying this should be laughed at and pitied, not adorned over.
Gobber @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
Addtion: the fact they've put a black Nano in there for the product shot instead of a white one shows they haven't a clue.
Madonna! @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
This is just what I've been looking for! Thanks for this story. Engadget is da bomb!

i am disturbed that ipod nanos exist in the first place. in my days you were lucky if you could afford a phonograph! try carrying one of those around you lazy bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but what disturbs me more is that i don't understand the language our youth are speaking, e.g., DjDATZ (23) and Dobber (#28)!
DjDATZ, child what "univ" do you go to [i hope i am not an alumni there]?
David @ Dec 19th 2005 2:31AM
Definitely don't pull that thing out in the subway...
