Day 2 of Engadget's Five Days of Holiday Giveaways: Listen to the Podcast to win an i-mate SP5m
On the first day of Engadget's annual Five Days of Holiday Giveaways we set out to hook three lucky people up with a Samsung A680 from Sprint, an LG VX8100 from Verizon (pictured at right), and an unlocked Motorola RAZR V3 in exchange for their cellphone carrier horror stories. Today's giveaway, however, is a little less bleak than all that stress and frustration — you can win a not-out-in-the-US i-mate SP5m Smartphone (aka HTC Hurricane / Orange SPV C550, etc.) simply by listening to the Podcast, (which we run every Tuesday, of course). Yes, this phone comes stacked with a QVGA display, WiFi, and miniSD slot, so have your downloadin' fingers ready; instructions on how to win this baby will be in the Podcast some time today!

Is there supposed to be a newly updated one? its not showing up yet.
They seem to post their podcasts around 3 or 4 in the afternoon eastern standard time.
I am SOOOOOOO Tired of carrying around my old lame ipod and my phone. I want One Ring to Rule them all, ummm errr I mean one device to do it all. Plus I would have MAD Braggin' Ritez with this pimped out devizzle!
WOW i am getting that i-mate SP5m. What do you guy s think?
Okay, brianben1, you're disqualified. Too, erm, blingy. That's so last year.
Back from my recent trip to Asia, I am getting sick of mobile phones available in the U.S. Have been thinking of buying the O2 phones, which is the oveasea branded name for i-Mate here in the U.S.
how do we find out who won yesterdays prize?????
Isn't this the phone you guys snagged at the Microsoft Mobius conference in Seattle? PLEASE send one my way!!
I didn't hear in the podcast how to sign up for the givaway! I listened to the whole thing through, and heard no mention.
Is anyone else in my boat?
skisteven1- I listened to the whole thing as well, and I didn't hear anything about signing up either!
#8 & #9 - That's because you need to listen to today's podcast (12.13.05). As of right now (~2:30 EST), it hasn't been posted yet.
how do deaf people enter the contest?
Still listening -- I hope this contest is not going to be a mean trick.

how is the winner decided? by ip address or something?
Ok -- It's there -- I hope I'm not pissing off Peter et. al. -- but I think there is only going to be one winner -- and the "steps required" is at minutes 22-28 for people who have other stuff to do.
It's not like they have a chance in winning.... It was 5 1/2 hrs ago.. no chance now
It's lame that this contest was time sensitive. Not everyone hase the same access to the internet or the ability to ignore work or other duties. A better way to deal with it would be to randomly draw a winner from all entries up to a certain time. If the desired intent was to increase listenership for the podcast, it has had the opposite effect on me.

ditto lorien's comments. The point of podcasting is being able to listen to a broadcast when it's convenient for you, right? I'm sure there are plenty of loyal podcast listeners who brought the show home on a portable player for thier evening commute only to find they'd missed their chance by hours.
...unless I won, in which case I think the first-email system is totally fair.
me too........
lorien, Brian, It's not like everyone was't given plenty of warning about how to enter the contest -- still, good thing we have plenty of other giveaways this week.
Best, Ryan
How can you guys even bash Ryan? These Guys are offering up this website at no cost to you whatsoever, and offering fans some cool stuff just for visiting. You guys complaining have no sense of gratitude. Thank you Engadget.

No, thank you, Eric.
Best, Ryan
Is the post for Day 3 up yet?
Eric:
There was no "Ryan bashing" at all in my statement which you seemed not to understand. I'm not complaining about not having warning, I'm just saying that there is a better way to conduct the contest that eliminates its inherit shortcommings. I greatly appreciate the Engadget website and visit it multiple times a day. I also greatly appreciate the chance to win an awesome giveaway. I just think that there are certain well established ways to conduct contests that eliminate bias and reasult in fairness.
So, to be clear:
Thanks Ryan and Engadget! Looking forward to the next fair contest you run!
These free giveaways definetly make my day, but reading those wise cracking comments on some fake gadget or knockoffs or the like, or just on those dumb gadgets also made my day, and I laugh loud and hard at them! Sure gets my day to a good start!
