Garmin StreetPilot i and c Series GPS receivers

If high prices have stopped you from picking up a GPS unit for that family member with no sense of direction, now's the time to set him or her on the right path. Garmin's StreetPilot i and c series may well be the receivers that make GPS a mass-market product at last. For as little as $199, you can get a full-featured unit with maps of the US and Canada, 3-D mapping, voice prompts, and a WAAS-enabled 12-parallel-channel receiver. The i series includes the bargain-basement i2, with a monochrome display, the midrange, full-color i3 (pictured), and the i5, which has the maps pre-loaded (the i2 and i3 require a self-install via CD-ROM). The i series display is fairly small at 2.1-inches, but that's what voice prompts are for, right? For a step up, the c series, which includes the c320 (about $399), adds one major feature missing from the i series: a larger (3.5-inch) touchscreen display. That's the one to get for yourself.
