All the
cool kids are
doing it, and now Cingular is finally joining the mobile
video party with their new Cingular Video service. So if you've been looking for a better excuse to go for a $59.99
unlimited data plan on their new BroadbandConnect 3G
network, take solace in the fact that not only will you be scoring some mobile video, but you'll be helping Cingular
pay off all those hefty 3G rollout bills. You also might of heard of the mobile content partner that they announced
with the service: a little outfit called HBO. Get ready for some good times plopped in front of your new 2-inch
entertainment center starting next month when it gets officially rolled out.

2 inch entertainment centre...are we talking about the actual PC card cuz they don't have any HSDPA handsets.

You have to be a complete tool to watch video on your cell phone.
What a waste of R&D time and money.
Just another way of jacking up phone & plan prices.

Considering 3G is outdated and I'm already streaming my satellite and/or cable to my PPC 6700 from Sprint with a $15 unlimitted data plan. WTF are they thinking?

#5 - Are you doing that with a SlingBox - If so - How does it work?

That article is a little misleading. The broadband connect with a PC card is all u can eat for $59.99 & I believe the price for will be around $15-$20 for unlimited data and video for 3G enabled phones.
To comment on 3G being outdated. Just becuase you are "Slingboxing" your cable to your smartphone you still are unable to watch on-demand video from content proveders that will be availbe exclusivley through cingular i.e. HBO. Also if 3G is outdated tell me one other way you can get broadband speeds to your devices outside of Wi-Fi hotspots at the present time.
Happy Holidays!

Whoops, that was too early in the morning. :) I could have sworn Cingular was GSM/EDGE. I guess they're now doing 3G? CDMA or EVDO? Ohh well.
Streaming is easy. Windows Media Encoder will take any input, or your cable card and stream it to Media Player on the 6700. You can change channels with a few tricks and remote admin. ;)

3G outdated? Hey norcom wanna know whats outdated? CDMA, Crippled Bluetooth, Crap phone selection, Crap coverage, no real global network, oh yea, and still having to dick around with an ESN (instead of a SIM card) just to change phones. Yea Sprint!

#10 cingular is using UMTS/HSDPA

We're almost there...
If you had a 3G capable handset with wifi and UPnP (like the Nokia N80) AND you had a UPnP compatible display, you could stream off your phone and onto that display. I could see PSPs, PVPs, and even your home TV being used for this. Why pay for HBO again if it's bundled in with your cell phone service?
