Sony upgrades QRIO with new camera and improved arms
The robot wars have begun. Not even a week after Honda upgraded their Asimo humanoid, Sony is right back at them with a software upgrade for the QRIO. The little bot can now enjoy all sorts of box related activities, such as carry, stacking, and recognizing dropped or fallen boxes, thanks to better articulated arms and a new "third eye" that keeps track of stuff. QRIO can also now keep track of colors, faces and other objects, bringing him closer to Asimo in that regard, who could already recognize and track faces. Based on this round of humanoid updates, it looks like while Asimo is gearing up for the workforce, QRIO is gearing up for preschool, but that ain't necessarily a bad thing.

What does one of these things cost, I'd love to have one.
Steve - helps to read the actual article:
"Muto said Sony had no plans to market QRIO itself but would apply new developments into other products"
Yeah yeah they are nice and cute at first, but wtf y'all going to do when they figure out they dont have to obey us.
Hell, I don't even turn my back to my fridge, I know that bastard is up to something.
Danger Danger Will Robinson.
I personally think QRIO is better than Asimo because of the way it actually walks like a human while Asimo walks like, well a robot.
eew look at that perverted thumb
I love that they upgraded, but I wish they could have kept the same design. The head on that one is ugly.
Damn, guess these guys will be good with some of the new games coming out!

So let me get this straight. Sony develops new software, arms, and eyesight for QRIO. Shows it off at a press conference, in the 21st century, and nobody bothered to video tape the damn thing to share with the unprivilaged masses that only get their QRIO fix through videos on the web? Simply amazing.
My tooth aches :(
