Engadget Podcast 057 - 12.20.2005
Well, looks like we're drawing in on closing out the year, which means that news is slowing up (except in the cellphone sector, of course), we have our annual Five Days of Holiday Giveaways and Engadget Awards, but we can do other interesting bits with our time like interview Rob Glaser of RealNetworks and Janne Jormalainen of Nokia. This week we'll also tackle the hard choice ReplayTV had to make going software, as well as the launch of Amp'd, the launch of the UTStarcom F1000 WiFi phone on Vonage, and finally the launch of Gmail Mobile, so listen up!

seems to be returning to the main Engadget page. I want my engadget poscast! ;)
Looks like none of the old episodes work either
So when are the winners going to be announced?
Nice to see the comments are finally back. This is definately one of the things that differentiate you from some of your competitors. Thank you for bringing it back.
Now, as Mike D asked, who won the prices from last week? The suspense is just killing me :)
trying to download the pod case for a journey in the car tomorrow ... and it's not working ... it's not like this is going to kill me but i do love to listen to the show on the move.
i will keep my fingers crossed
itunes can't download it either...what gives?
At least I know I'm not the only one having problems getting the latest podcast from iTunes.
I especially liked the interview with Janne Jormalainen. My offer to give you a hands-on Nokia 770 Q/A for Engadget readers/listeners stands. I'll find, test, experiment, and write up any A to any Q you send me about the thing.
After a day of playing, I love it but realize it's limitations. Tonight I am going to set up sshd, log in, and poke around like mad. I may even roll my own ROM.
Here's a link to the SNL rap: http://www.thatvideosite.com/view/1341.html
Ok I listened to the end of the podcast and I have to say I was a little disappointed by your A2 review. I would think that even in a 'first look' review you would spare 10 seconds to give a shout out to the many other features and abilities that it is capable of.
Also, it is pronounced "Co-won", not "Cow-un". Apparently you have been watching too much of that joke-artist of a DAP reviewer down at C-Net who does the same thing (and he's Korean!).
The screen has that coating not only for protection but the ability to be seen at many different angles. That way when you are having a crowd gather around while your watching your A2 using the external sound speaker they can enjoy it as much as you are.
And about the 5-way joystick thing.
I Love It.
If there is something I'm missing that makes all those other navigational methods SO much better than the 5-way joystick, please let me know.
Otherwise, Good Podcast! (I used iPodder to download and recieved no troubles) Keep up the good work.
The SNL "Lazy Sunday" rap is now availble as a free download on iTunes.
I tried calling the Engadget Hotline but it just plays an ad and hangs up on me. Anyone else having problems?
Where's Episode 58?
