GigaByte G-Smart: first smartphone with MSFP push e-mail
The GigaByte G-Smart would
probably be relegated to Asia-only smartphone history, except for one thing: the device is reportedly the first
handheld to ship with Microsoft’s Messaging and Security Feature Pack (aka AKU 2) pre-installed. MSFP, which was
recently released to developers and licensees, enables push e-mail from Exchange servers to Pocket PCs, giving users of
Windows Mobile 5 devices more of a Blackberry-like experience when it comes to checking and reading their mail. Other
manufacturers are expected to follow suit, so it shouldn’t be long before MSFP-enabled smartphones hit US shores.
You may also be able to get an upgrade from your manufacturer if you have a recent-vintage WinMo 5 device.
