MovieVision personal media player
Normally you'd find us
drooling over the latest foreign gadget that will forever remain out of reach, but in the case of the $169 MovieVision
PMP, the Japanese are welcome to keep this one all to themselves. While certainly pocketable at only 95 grams, the
MovieVision could nonetheless never grace our collection due it's shoddy design that looks like a cobbled-together OEM
universal remote. No internal storage means that MPEG-4, MP3, and WMA files must be played from an SD card (2GB max),
with video viewable on the 2.5-inch screen. So do us a favor, and when you're gift shopping for us on Dynamism, pass
this clunker over in favor of a sexy little ultra-light, m'kay?

Apparently it's so ugly, that you've spared us the horror by not posting a photo of it.
Thanks.

There it is...
Not ugly, but for 2.5" I'll stick with my iPod.

It's ugly, but at $169, I wouldn't mind one. I have a couple SD cards laying around anyway, so this beats the heck out of laying down $400 for something prettier.

Why do most of these products have some lame-ass thing written under the screen?
Eg: Cowon with "Color Sound"??! wtf...
Goodman @ Dec 21st 2005 2:16PM
Yeah, it's actually a pretty good deal for those of us with some extra SD cards to spare.

Well actually I am reviewing (New Straits Times, Computimes, Malaysia) a the clone of that PMP (by www.dism.com a prototype test unit maybe[?] before they rebadge it with their own name) and the screen is OLED 262K, comes with 128mb onboard mem, has 2 ear speakers on the sides, can encode live with composite video/audio cables from tv/dvd player or whatever device with composite video and audio jacks.
It can also playout to any device with those jacks so you can share on the big screen with your friends instead of them violating your personal space.
You can see some pics of it here:

Btw the movie encoded from DVD is the War Of THe Worlds. And you can also see the micky ears on the set.

Bruno Dieter Chan.

Why do you guys hate players w/o internal storage so much?
Don't you buy Cameras with SD-Slots aswell? I dont want to buy a crapload of storage for every player and just throw it away afterwarsd
