Samsung SGH-D600 cellphone reviewed
Samsung's SGH-D600 isn't a smartphone, but that
doesn't mean it's bereft of smart features. The GSM slider has a wealth of features, including a 2 megapixel camera
with flash and special effects modes, audio and video outputs, and a 320x240 display. MobileBurn checked it out and
declared it to be a "near-perfect" phone, with a camera that can take "high quality" pics, an MP3
player with good sound, and a solid user interface. One quibble: sluggish predictive-text input, which could put this
one off-limits for heavy texters. Otherwise, according to MobileBurn, the D600 is "oh so close to being
perfect."Read

I have this phone. It is awesome.
Who's carrying this phone in the US?
I believe T-Mobile, when my girlfriend and I stoped into the store 2 weeks ago, the sales guy pulled out one of those dummy models and was flashing it around.
it's at myworldphone.com for 400$ but I don't see it anywhere else
Here is someone Carrying the phone... and others

We have this phone as an "overseas" phone selling at our Cingular authorized dealer store.. GREAT phone. Video/Camera is mucho better than the sony e w800i. Sliders though.. I've seen too many screens go pure white or just die because of the sliding feature. Thumbs down on that for me.
#4 - That's the e635
I'm surprised it has taken them so long to do a review of this phone; it has been out for a long while and on sale in Europe and on the usual websites.
#6 - Do you suspect the video data ribbon is weakened and eventually breaks because of the sliding?
AFAIK, no one is carrying these. T-Mo is selling the t809 that just came out (which I think is a better phone).
-p-
yeah this has been out for a couple of months at least. it's available at your local chinatown, on ebay etc... but no us carrier has this badboy (as usual)
This phone is pretty good. I am using it through Cingular although I travel around the world.
The battery life is pretty good (that is if you dont drain it by playing music, games, take too many pictures). The biggest con of it is price.
I've heard that the t-809 has pretty crappy reception- worse than the SE T610 (which is known for having poor RF). Also, the quad-band d600 has no EDGE. so close to being right!
Yup, it's a really nice phone and the software that comes with it for getting the pics and stuff off is really easy to use too. (although data speeds are slow unfortunately) - you can always use the t-flash slot though.
I've been wanting one of these for some time. The price has kept me away. I keep hoping that T-Mobile will take it one. Unfortunately, T-Mobile just brought out the t809. I played with one in the store and thought that it looked/felt cheap and flimsy. Meanwhile, I'll keep watching Ebay for a deal.
Question: does this phone offer voicedialing?
That would get business done, when can I get one?
Just bought one for my mother!
Bought it off a work mate for 100 quid who upgraded, great phone but the tv-out is crap.
@ #7 The w800i's camera is infact alot better, They're both 2mp but the w800i has autofocus and macromode!
the d600 video quality is awesome. I've had one of these phones since August and absoloutely love it.
This looks like an awesome phone. The tv commercial I saw was great and made me curious.
I've had this phone for a couple of months, it's fantastic - my only gripe with it is that the keypad's too small for comfortable texting...
Another Samsung garbage. I have their D500...at first I thought it was cool, but after couple month of usage I found it disappointing.
1: syncing software does not work
2: samsung's website is a joke. unlike nokia or SonyE, it doesn't have the carrier mms/wap setting via SMS.
3: disappointing reception
4: their bluetooth is not up to sniff...don't know if they fix it with D600
5: it doesn't sync time with the network...so you have to change time manually during fallback/spring forward and the mintues will eventually be 10 min faster.

They rate it 7.5/10.
They say its slightly larger than the D500, but from what ive seen, this thing looks tiny.
Im still gonna hold out for the N80 though :D.
Only that it's ugly as hell.
Siemens SL75 has less features but looks better. And seriously, what counts more? ;)
