InFocus announces three upcoming Play Big DLP front projectors
InFocus has announced several additions to its
Play Big line of consumer DLP projectors that will be available in the first quarter of 2006. Not many details are
available, but it seems that the IN72 and IN74 are both native 480p, with the difference being that the latter throws a
16:9 image. Stepping it up somewhat is the IN76, which supports 720p, and is supposedly aimed at the higher end of the
market. Unless these models also include DVRs and mini fridges, they seem a bit overpriced at $1300, $1700, and $2500,
respectively--although you may be paying more for the "unconventional" styling.[Via TG Daily]

$1300 & $1700 for 480p isnt that great, you can currently get decent 720p ones for not much more. Must be the styling, tho surely they'll be high up out of sight

Keep in mind that InFocus, in the home theatre world, makes some of the better-performing projectors made. What's the reason? The scaling circuitry. Their 720p ScreenPlay model looks better at 92 inches than many plasmas at 50.
The upshot? These projectors may actually be worth it, if they use the technology found on their other models.

I actually own an infocus 480p dlp projector and agree with the previous person that the performance of the 480p infocus looks great up against your run-of-the-mill 720p projector. Most of their 480p projectors also contain a faroudja DCDi deinterlacer, so those prices are not that bad!

Where do you all get your projectors? $2500 for an Infocus Screenplay is not bad at all! I am more curious what it has compared to the current 7205/7210 projectors. These aren't for powerpoint, they are for home theaters! There top of the line is $15k and worth every penny!

Boy those are expensive, and they look like ass too. Lets hope the image looks better than the projector.
Oddly shaped devices are not 'cool' in my book.

These prices are considered low for DLP. Do a search to see how many 720p DLP projectors are currently on the market with a MSRP under $3000.

A new InFocus 720p DLP projector for a list of $2500? Not overpriced a bit!
The only thing in that range for 720p DLP projection is the Mitsubishi HC3000, which has a couple of kinks to work out, and sells for 3 grand.
I'm looking very forward to the IN76.

76 looks promising with dark chip2, true 720p, 1000 vid ansi lumens and 3000:1 contrast ratio.
interesting that they are not publishing the db level... unless ive missed something.
