Microsoft to debut a subscription movie service?
We had it on authority that
Microsoft was planning a subscription movie download service before word spread this evening, but it looks like
MacRumors done caught wind of what may (or may not) be to come from the little Redmond company that could. We don't
have any details or particulars, but we imagine said service would be similarly functional to PlaysForSure for audio --
except for movies, of course -- and would integrate with Portable Media Center devices (as well as other devices we'd
imagine they'd license their DRM technology to). Guess we'll have to wait and see then, now won't we?[Via Digital Media Thoughts]

Great!
I don't like these Portable Media Center devices at all, looks nice but not useful at all.
Is it just me or is the Windows logo on the buuton on the left turned around?
Can't this company focus on producing better software instead embracing any entertainment market on this planet? They have screwed office environments and now they want to go further. Very sad.

The MSN Video Downloads site has already been around for long before the Apple Video iPod. They don't have "Lost" or "Desperate Housewives" though... mostly news and current events videos. Adding movies to that would be easy when they got the permission.
Some tell me why the freak they can't just make it so win mo 5 devices can play their crappy little video downloads? I have a brand new ipaq and I'm not about to spring for a media center piece O junk. So why!
@clint - In WMP 10 on the desktop, go to Options>Devices Select your iPAQ and do Properties. In the Quality tab, turn off "Convert files as required by this device". Then you should be able to sync the MSN Video Downloads with Windows Mobile 5. The bad part is they'll take up alot of space and your other synced media won't convert either. Yeah, it would be nice if they could just sync over without any workarounds!
Apple, yahoo, google, and just about everyone has new stuff out every month but Microsoft....hello Microsoft, anybody there?
So does this mean HD movies on my xbox 360?
This doesn't surprise me at all. MSN is still trying to play catch-up with the rest of the marketing world through their AdCenter and other like products. Now they're trying to get a piece of the movie industry action.
#3 yeah its upside down lol,Thats Microsoft for ya
If MS can launch a DRM'd movie subscription service, they would be accomplishing something that Netflix has tried and failed at due to not getting an acceptable licensing deal.
That would be a nice option for the average media center consumer, but it makes no difference to the pirating juarezer...
This is the thing that every body want.
when they got the permission, Adding movies to that would be easy.
They have screwed environments and now they want to do more.
