Sony to demo 82-inch LCD at CES
Sony's coming a little late to the game with their entrant into the exclusive 82-inch LCD club, following
Samsung's debut of their similarly-sized
beast (pictured above) at CeBIT last March. Fittingly, the Sony model uses proprietary Samsung tech in order to
achieve wider viewing angles, and features a 1200:1 contrast ratio and a response time under 8ms. Sony will show off
this bad boy in a few days at CES, where we'll hopefully have some live pics for you and an estimated price that is
slightly more accurate than our usual guesstimate MSRP of one million dollars.

oooh, pretty colors
i would love to check my email on this thing.
btw have you guys noticed that the SNL sketch you were talking abouton the podcast is availiable on iTMS...FOR FREE!
Why is it ALWAYS that DAMN SALAD?
the one on the right is HOT
"Fittingly, the Sony model uses proprietary Samsung tech in order to achieve wider viewing angles..."
Ah, now who's the big brother?
I hope the posts that are targeted towards the women shown pictures do NOT get deleted...
Those women are beautiful.
I was in the Samsung Experience Lounge (or whatever it's called) in Time Warner Center, NYC yesterday. I've seen a Xbox 360 connected to a 62" and thought THAT was big. Just until I saw the 82" around the corner. Such a display is amazing! But there were no pricetags around and I guess they know why...
You know, if you look closely at the woman on the right, it looks like the corner of the table is stabbing into her crotch, and she is assuming the right stance to accomodate it.
I need a 60"+ lcd/plasma capable of full native res 1080p.
How long more are we expected to wait for these?
4, you're right, I agree; 8, haha, I didn't notice that, good eye.
i like the one of the left, especially since she is showing how big the salad is. adam h., is that you?
World's Largest 82" LCD? Wouldn't 82" be 82" no matter what... Not larger than another manufacturers 82"...
My heart stopped when I saw that screen :O I don't understand is it a tv or a pc monitor?
@macattacks10: i was just thinking the same but then i noticed the japanese(?) girls and thought of http://www.engrish.com again...
What resolution does that beast get?
3 - Where else does it turn up? I thought it was just random colours... Then I noticed its actually a very big salad.
4 - Indeed.
8 - Good eye.

OK this isn't the same but close enough.
notice how theres a samsung logo on the top corner....
this is jus a random pic of an 82inch lcd thas not from sony
okay... so it does say that the pic is of an 82" lcd tv from samsung...
but who really reads the stuff anyway?
This isn't impressive if its basically the same thing as the Samsung 84" LCD. I saw it in person at Infocomm and its actually 4 screens stitched together. Its ok at first ... till you see the seams. Once you see the seams, you never NOT see them again. They're always in the picture. What's even less impressive is that things like this aren't even realy products most of the time. They're just electronic pissing matches to show off and you can't even buy the damn things for any amount of money.
Samsung SDI clearly is a supplier to many other LCD TV producers. It means that many LCD TV's are actually samsung inside. This model is simply a result of competition between the samsung family: Samsung SDI vs Samsung Electronics. Both of them are producers of LCD/PDP panels, world's top panel producers along with LG-Phillips. Samsung Electronics and Sony made a 51/49 invenstment on S-LCD company, which would supply LCD panels for both companies. I believe that this one is from S-LCD (Samsung electronics) which will compete with the 84" from Samsung SDI
Umm...Are you sure this is from Sony? The banner in the background of photo is written in Korean and showing with Samsung logo on the side. Those girls look Korean to me too :)
