Living in New York we have
little need for owning a car, but even if we did, the last thing we'd want to do after a long commute is remain in the
driver's seat to play a video game--of someone driving! So clearly, we are not the target audience for Nissan's concept
URGE (Ugly Rolling Gaming Environment?) vehicle, which incorporates an Xbox 360 in its standard suite of gizmos. In-car
gaming is nothing new, but Nissan and Microsoft have taken it to the next level with the URGE, allowing the driver to
control games such as Project Gotham Racing 3 with the stock steering wheel and pedals. As you might imagine, gameplay
is only enabled when the vehicle is parked; while driving, the 7-inch flip-down LCD serves as a teched-out rear-view
mirror. Since this is only a concept, it is unlikely that we'll ever see the URGE cruising around town, although
Nissan's target price of under $20,000 (pretty easy to low-ball a concept, isn't it?) would probably make it a most
popular whip.
as the great SEGA would say
WELCOME TO THE NEXT LEVEL
say what you want, but this would so sell in America
high school and college kids would gulp these up
especially if this baby is under 20-15k
yeah you could say what you want
If you're going to make it, make it right. The windshield needs to be the screen, not a 7 inch flip down LCD. I want my side windows to show me what's outside the car I'm driving in the game. If you want to put the game in the car, make sure you put the car in the game.
"would probably make it a most popular whip."
Oh good....Xzibit is ghost-writing for Engadget. Sweet.
Hopefully, the link above will work.
I think I prefer the concept Scion that was shown at SEMA for my simulated driving needs.
(if the link does not work, go to Autoweek.com and search the archives for SEMA and Scion. It should be the first story to come up.
Probably eventually would be a workaround for the game only being enabled while parked...
I saw the SCION SPEEDSTER at SEMA too. That thing was awesome... way better than this hunk of junk. It has three xBox systems integrated into the cars functioning system. Made by 5 Axis...
Once again, Nissan is bringing up the rear...
good product, excellent
That car looks very cool.
Here's a link to pics of xA. It's sick. Way better looking than this Urge.

WHIP! bahahaha... seriously? dorks!
So... you drive around town in the exact same seat, using the exact same controls, as you use for hauling butt around a race track, or shooting it out in whatever the latest Spy Hunter knockoff is called. As the Farkers say, "What could possibly go wrong?"
Saavadi !!
anyone ever try moving your steering wheel while parked? Ever heard of friction from the tires? You'll wear a groove in your tires just sitting parked!
Ummm... Toyotaboy? It would probably disengage the actual steering when you were playing. X3
I think it's a terrible idea and something I would never go for personally. Especially if it was gonna be 15-20 grand.
13. Im preatty sure that it would turn off your steering. So dont worry about your tires.
