Option debuts GTM351E HSDPA laptop card
Looks like Sierra's got some competition en route when it comes to internal 3G laptop devices. We know every company and their mother's developing them, but Option (who just set the HSDPA speed record) is now among the first handful to actually announce an internal laptop device for use with HSDPA (up to 1.8Mbps), as well as UMTS up to 384Kbps, and EDGE/GPRS. Doesn't look like the millions of laptops out there with mini-PCI will have much luck here though, since it doesn't seem like Option is intending on hitting any angle with this first offering but PCI Express Mini Cards (at least not right yet).

What's this thing for?? A complete computer on a pci mini card? Is this to create dual processors? (I'm confused) Thanks...
Like the article says, int a mini-PCI express card for laptops that gives you access to the wireless data networks (hsdpa, umts, gprs, etc)
1.8 mbps? Isn't that rather slow? 1.8 millibits per second works out at over 9 minutes per bit! Oh, you meant 1.8 megabits per second. That needs a capital 'M': 1.8 Mbps. Small 'm' prefix means 'milli' means 0.001, as in mm (millimeter), ml (milliliter) etc.
Aren't transfer speeds usually done as: Mbps = megabits and MBps = megabytes?
