The Flux announces iPod film festival
Filmmaking catch-all site The Flux has just
announced a contest for amateur cinematographers that asks them to squeeze their creativity onto the video iPod's tiny
color screen. Although prizes have yet to be determined, winners will be picked in four categories: student film, indie
film, family clip, and music video, with the only restriction being that entries must be shorter than 10 minutes. No
professional judging here--victors will be chosen by audience votes--which means sucking up the Academy won't do squat
for you. Good luck to all who decide to enter, although you'll stand little chance against our super-condensed
10-minute version of Citizen Kane.[Via MacMinute]

I can not wait for the day I would be able to watch TV on an Ipod. Since I do not have an Ipod the wait is even worse. But since I can not pay my college tuition, how am I going to buy an Ipod. Unless I start generating some revenue.
I dont get it, this whole "mobile phone / ipod film awards" thing seems completely pointless.
Just because it has a small screen doesnt make it somehow different. Are we going to start seeing 4:3 film awards when widescreen becomes the consumer majority?
This is silly.
The iPod setting seems pretty restrictive, not because of physical size, but because of resolution. Effective use of that resolution can make a difference. It's sort of like ASCII art...
It was his sled.
There, I've just saved you ten boring, boobless minutes.
dude it's different for mobile phones because you can actually record video on one
It's funny...I showed some co-workers a movie clip a couple of years ago on my PPC and they all thought it was pointless because the screen was too small. Now for some reason it's suddenly cool...even though the screen is *smaller*.
The Flux has announced the prizes (including a MacBook Pro)...and extended the deadline to February 20th. Check out the list of prizes/more fest info at www.theflux.tv
