Kapsel Media Center ceramic PC with Intel Viiv
The Kapsel
Media Center PC runs Windows Media Center Edition and is one of the first we've seen on the Intel Viiv platform which means this little orb packs
in a dual-core processor (Yonah likely, though they don't specify), and Intel's Quick Resume Technology to power the
media center on and off quickly. This tiny (10.6 x 9.1 x 3.0-inches) ceramic shelled PC can be positioned horizontally,
vertically, or hung on the wall and throws down 7.1 surround and hi-def video playback. Expect this and other
Viiv-centric media centers to ship first quarter 2006, price not yet disclosed.

So, it's pretty much the supposed new Mac Mini minus an iPod dock, and with a shticky wire stand.
Though it does seem decent.

er, Windows Home Media Center?? (and the first bit of that sentence doesn't make sense...)
To #1: I don't see any similarities between this and a Mac mini!

This thing looks sick. I am enjoying the new form factor of these new Pc's

Though it doesn't look like a Mac mini, it's still looking pretty fly -- and it's got great specs. This will provide a nice alternative to the Apple solution rumored to be released next week. I'm thinking the Kaspel MCPC is a triple, while Apple's iPod-integrated device might be a home run.

Chances are that this device will have the same sort of compatibility as the xbox360 with device which means it will work with nearly all players, unlike the Mac Mini. This also has a dual-core which makes it a serious powerhouse. Fingers crossed it has bluetooth as standard.

It's like a PC, but for a girl!

I'm liking this. Very stylish and different and space age. Man I wish I was down in Vegas this week.

Very stylish! Looks like Apple's product.

Can you get it with a Blu-ray player? If so, I want one.
Mu Doggy @ Jan 4th 2006 1:27PM
#8 - blu-ray slot loads won't be out until almost '07

I don't get the Mac mini comment - my only thought was - if this run Mac OS X I would get one. It looks small and cool.
wtfunkymonkey @ Jan 4th 2006 1:50PM
Looks good to me, i wouldn't mind that in my living room. Have to look a bit deeper into the stats though. It better have some serious disk space or at least some expandability.

I think it's pretty much agreed that the days of the old big biege box on your desk are over. This is cool.

Reminds me of a nintendo ON. =)

if they will change the lame logo on the side to a "radioactive" or "biohazzard" symbol, i'll take one!
SJester @ Jan 5th 2006 1:39PM
I'm not so thrilled about the styling. Very EPCOTT center "Home of the Future." Looks like a toaster with a mushroom logo on the side.
Will this suffer from expansion or upgrade problems? Small and oddly shaped case.
What sort of copy control does it include? I'm not a
proponent of piracy, but I'm tired of trouble streaming from one room to the next, etc.
What's the advantage of a ceramic shell? Nonstick cooking?
