LG shows new portable video players

More new gear from this morning's LG press conference: two portable video players smaller than an iPod or LG's own PM70. The JM53 (pictured, right) has an 8GB drive and a 1.77-inch OLED display. It measures 3.9 inches high, 1.9 inches wide, and 0.55 inches deep. The even smaller FM30 (left) crams 1GB of storage and the same size screen into a 2.4" X 1.6" X 0.55" package you can wear around your neck. LG claims 30 hours of battery time for the JM53 and 60 for the FM30. Both players will handle MPEG4, ASF, WMA, MP3 and OGG formats.

sick! dang y did i jump the gun and buy the video ipod??
Um, why do manufacturers of PVP's still think that a tall vertical screen makes sense?
And with that 1GB of storage, you can hold a whole 2 episodes of Lost.
I own a 5G iPod, but I have to say that things is AWESOM!!
Wonder what frame rates it supports... The small iRiver U10, for example, only supports 15FPS. Gimme 30!
it would make sense if the screen could orient itself the other way if u hold it then itll be a better screen shape for videos
That JM53 looks nice, but WHEN will "DAP" makers realize that:
1) iPod people are early adapters, and they ripped their cd's to AAC: support (unprotected) AAC's and I'll try a non-iPod.
2) Stop giving products cryptic names-- nobody will ever say they love their "JM53"!
As for this one, with Nicole Kidman on the screen and the tiny song title listed as "Yesterday.mp3 / beatles", I'm guessing their usability ducks are NOT in a row...
er, early adOpters!
yesterday by the beatles is a bangin' tune!
Anyway..
The OLED is great, i hope this becomes more common as it means we can finally get some PMPs that have a decent battery life.
Looks quite nice, but verticle orientation is just shit.
Also 1Gig is pathetic, a waste of its other features with that kind of space.
7, could be music playing with a Nicole Kidman wallpaper in the background.
It won't sell well - it's not an iPod!!
Any news from engadget if they accept memory cards? And is that 8Gb flash or hard disk? (I'm guessing disk but it would be nice to dream)If either of them take SD cards I'm sold.
I'm with Boss Sauce; no AAC = no sale!
Cant you convert AAC to mp3 or WAV, etc...?
