"Sony can only tell us that they plan to start offering a Blu-ray DVD player "this summer""
PS3, per-chance?
How can we expect a PS3, with Blu-ray, in Spring, when the stand alone player can't even be ready until summer.
So, does that mean PS3 is Summer release now instead of Spring-ish? I know, Sony won't say. I am officially in the "wait and see" category for the competing formats.
There is no way in HECK that Sony can release that thing in the US this spring. I predict it will release in Japan in late spring (May) and the US in November. Europe? They won't see it until 2007.
If you already have a Blu-Ray player from Sony, wouldn't that lower the chance of wanting a PS3 for it?
They will come after the release of the PS3.
Ohh...I was talking about the PS3, not their standard BluRay player...my bad...

Because if Sony is smart they won't release a player until the PS3 drops. Look at the prices on some of the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players announced...seriously how many average consumers are gonna drop that kind of loot on video player...next to none. Sony knows this so why not get into households with the PS3 and once the popularity of the playback grows start pumping out players.
Seems like Sony has issued a pressrelease regarding the new Blue-ray player after all. Found it copied here: http://gadgets.fosfor.se/sony-bdp-s1-blu-ray-home-player/#more-945 .
Can we please ban the word "deets"? Thank you.
Lets hope the Philips one comes out soon enough!
