VideoMirror: eyes in the back of your head...er, car

You know where the blind spots are in the car, don't you? Lift the veil on those missing visuals with Magna Donnelly's VideoMirror. It won a "Girls Best Friend" tech award, but c'mon, you're man enough for this too since it's so James Bond-ish. Drop your precious baby in reverse and the 3.5-inch LCD display automatically extends from the rear-view, showing video from the mini-cam mounted on the vehicle's rear. Put your vehicle in drive and the analog display retracts out of sight, leaving you free to drive away from the spot formerly known as "blind".

This would be great for freaking out the mother in law in the passenger seat. Drop it in reverse, hit the gas and let out a blood curdling scream as you keep facing forward. Doing it on the freeway would have a similar effect on other motorists.

How long will it take the camera to come out? Makes no sense to be sitting there in reverse, waiting for the camera to come out. By that time I could have looked up, behind me, and drove off.
