Toshiba had quite the presence at CES this year, especially what with the huge onslaught of HD DVD. They're
trying to get the buzz rolling for sure, but they had a couple other noteworthy bits, so check it out!
Toshi's HD-A1 HD DVD player, in the buff. It's pretty big, but we have a feeling you'll find room for it.
Wall o' screens.
47-inch 1080p LCD TV, eh? Now that's not usual.
Toshi was showing off their Qosmio line. Like, really
showing off. They only had about 50 or 60 of 'em around their booth, actually -- their other laptops and boxes were
definitely slighted. And yes, that's an Xbox 360 disc up on the wall.
This is the 32Z1000, a
networked TV with 3 Ethernet ports, NAS storage, Firewire, USB, and HDMI. Japan only, far as we know.
Apparently people are really stoked to check out SED. And to be frank, they probably should be -- it's pretty
slick.
Here we've got a bizarre 3D interface on a table,
which apparently doesn't suffer from motion parallax, and doesn't require glasses.
You know what this
is, don't you?
This is what Toshiba's DMFC (direct methanol fuel
cell) battery looks like. They're claiming 8 hours of life on the thing.
We're not sure why,
but apparently it sucks being the bread in an identical twin sandwich getting your cartoon portait drawn in front of a
dozen or so showgoers by a dude with a Tablet PC.
I need a 47inch 1080p LCD. Think of all the possibilities.
So when do we get to see the SED??

I'm telling you. Since I have no freakin' idea how to pronounce that, it's a retarded name. Qosmio? Kinda sounds like Kosmo Kramer? Okay.. Enjoy typing that into a url someday.. "Cosmo.com..." pffft...
Ummm I just pronounce it how its spelt. "cos mee oh".
Raffi is correct on the pronunciation.
More SED details, please.
Is that a 45GB HD-DVD disc in one of the pics? I didn't know this size was attainable....Can someone verify this please?!!!
#7...announced may of 2005. google it up...
Yes 45GB its a triple layer disc.
Any more information on the SED tv?
How many different SED TV sizes were they showing?
