Why would you want the usb hub to have a battery? I think the package most includes a USB dongle to go into your laptop that connects wirelessly to the usb hub which is powered through a transformer plugged into your wall. The thing is going to be tied down to your assortment of printers, hard drives wired gadgets anyway...
One thing that would worry me is what happens if it disconnects when connected to a hard drive or ipod? Ipods and other drives always warn you of the dangers of disconnecting them when they are transferring data.
