Rolls Royces to come with lifetime Sirius subscription
In a move that will
probably surprise no one, Rolls Royce has decided to make Sirius
satellite radio standard in all of their vehicles, along with a lifetime subscription to the service (whether this
refers to your lifetime or the car's is unclear). For the price of a Rolls we think you should get not only Sirius but
XM, satellite TV, broadband Internet, digital radio, and full plumbing as well, but that's neither here nor there.
Sirius seems to be an obvious fit for the high-end manufacturer's reputation, because Howard Stern's raunchy and expletive-filled show is
exactly what you want customers to associate with a company that your execs tout as "synonymous with the highest
level of luxury, performance and quality in the automotive world."

When I first read the title, I thought it meant you'd get a free Rolls Royce when signed up for a lifetime Sirius subscription. Too bad, hehe.

Probably a marketing twist to show Sirius' audience diversity.
"See! We're not just the Howard Stern show!"

The lifetime of the car or the lifetime of Sirius? I'd bet you see the company crater before the car.

I say! Jolly good!!

If other manufacturers could do this, then I can see satellite radio taking off and doing spectucular and replacing terrestrial radio.

Considering the $499.99 lifetime subscription is for the lifetime of the receiver you activate, not the subscriber, I can't imagine Sirius would be giving away "owner" lifetime deals. Most likely it is for the lifetime of the receiver, and maybe only while the receiver is in the car.

Actually, it is for the lifetime of the subscriber. As with any of their plans, you can switch recievers around all you want.

You and I are both wrong, DS. According to the Sirius Satellite Radio Terms and Conditions, which was sitting in my mailbox when I arrived home from work, and I quote, "You may only transfer a lifetime Subscription to a different SIRIUS Receiver a maximum of three times." It also notes that a transfer fee of $75 my apply.

This is a natural development. Rolls Royce is now owned by BMW, as is Mini. The brands offer Sirius as a fixture.
For the dollars someone bungs into a Rolls, lifetime satellite should come with the package.

LOL, Engadget, the last line you wrote was hysterical! Rolls Royce and Stern - goes together like steak and a kick in the butt!
And all of it, true true.

Mercedes-Benz only offers Sirius, just like BMW et al.
