You really never know when
you're gonna be caught in an all out multi-continental nuclear holocaust, but you know you'll sure as hell have your
iPod with you, so why not give it a slightly higher purpose?
So when are they coming out with the Transformers edition iPod? There's accessories for every little thing imaginable, why not just make one that turns into a plane or a car?
Hey, it's that 8lb iPod Steve was talking about yesterday! Not only does it do video, but it includes an integrated iSight for taking pictures and making home movies.
Way to go Steve, you really nailed what the public wants.
I do agree, in fact I admit that I am not too happy with how the Remote Wand turned out and I will be re-doing it. I didn't expect this to get picked up and get this much attention.
It was a quick mod for a Mod Contest I did a while back - and just now posted on my Flickr account.
PS - I would love to see what you have made lately.
Personally I was thinking how great the styling was and how futuristic it looked. It wouldn't look out of place in a chip fab!
Don't take the Engadget comments personally: many of them of are just immature 14 year olds who when they're not posting how much they hate iPods and want them to die, are getting distracted by the latest flashy gadget and grumbling they don't have enough pocket money to buy one. (Actually, sometimes I think Engadget is run by these people - that seems to be the theme of all the podcasts!)
As you suggest, most haven't created anything interesting in their lives, but are very quick to criticize people like you who do.

That's pretty out there, yet surprisingly stylish and well made.

I'm sorry but thats just crap .. the cutting work around the "remote" is very shoddy.
Say would guys be interested in my "retrofitting" of an iPod into a cardboard box ? I'm calling it "CardPod" .. it'll look great!

See, you had me going. I thought you were going to show me a cool bio-bechanical iPod designed by H.R. Geiger.

Or more seriously (and whether right or wrong or do so) maybe you're an FBI operative visiting a mosque...
