Skullcandy's Mark Frank Montoya MP3 player headphones
What's better than some $50 iPod nano headphones? Why, a $230 pair of MP3 headphones, complete with their own generic looking 512MB flash player, of course. We'll try not to spill the beans to Skullcandy that for $20 more you could get a nano and Macally's offering, but someone is going to break the news to them sooner or later. Of course, there's no telling how much better these cans might sound, and they look plenty comfortable. Also, the included MP3 can be used on its own, with the inclusion of a battery pack, but we're just saying, these Mark Frank Montoya MP3 player headphones have a steep hill to climb.

These do sound good, I listened to them at CES. But I would never buy it, cause I already have an mp3 player like everybody else.

whats with comparing everthing to ipod? especially these "for $(..) MORE you could have ipod (..)" i dont know, i just dont like the comparison, but then again, i AM crazy.

well ipods ARE a fad these days, and comparing to ipods draws attention of ipod boys and girls which take about 50% of mp3-lister-population.. in America. They look pretty good, except the flash player seems little "weak"..

See what happens to an idea when you post your "Homemade Hak." I remember seeing this months ago, done by some guy on hack-a-day. Pretty sure I saw it here also.

#3, even if you hate iPods I don't think it's possible to deny that a Nano is a much better buy than this included player. It has at least four times more storage and a color screen.

I think the obvious thing that people are missing is the total cost. So yes you get a pair of Skullcandy headphones and their 512mb mp3 player for $230. An ipod nano, on the other hand, costs $199 for the cheapest one and then you have to pay $49 for those other headphones with a total cost of $248. That's $18 whole dollars you'd save with the Skullcandy set! Insane savings!

whatthehello moto...scam spam on engadget? DELETE!
anyway,
this thing seems alright, except for the price maybe.
NeoteriX @ Jan 14th 2006 12:02PM
While some may scoff at the $230 cost for some mere "headphones" and "mp3 player", but who can really put a pricetag on what you'll really be getting...
Massive "cred" from the boarding community as you carve down the mountain in official Mark Frank Montoya headphones
...
Haha.
