Medion's new 4GB MP3 player
They've flirted with players before, but this
new attempt by Medion doesn't look too shabby, and even though
the 4GB HDD isn't the most exciting thing we've heard this week, the line-in capability sounds like a good time. You
can view MPEG video on the 1.8-inch screen, upload your tunes with USB 2.0, and playback "DRM" files -- we'll
have to hope that's referring to PlaysForSure, but no
guarantees. There's an built-in mic as well, but not a lot else going on here.[Thanks, Tony]

From my past expereince with Medion products; I wouldn't hold much hope for this. A friend had a Medion MP3 player which had a lot of features but was a pain to use. It constantly crashed, was a nightmare to load songs (poor software) onto and the build quality and support from customer services were awful.
I'm commenting here because it won't let me on the Switched On...
I know what VIIV is... it's just Pentium 5.
I mean, it's the next one, it rhymes with five, it has the roman numeral for five in it... twice, and it has a 4 and a 6 (average 5).
Simple isn't it.
Peter
This is what VIIV is:
* Easy access to on-demand movies, music, games and photos on your TV (DRM)
* A range of verified entertainment services and big-name digital content (Certified Services)
* Instant on/off (after initial boot, when activated) for immediate enjoyment of your digital media (electric lake)
* Dual-core processor power and supports up to 7.1 channel surround sound (audio/video decoding/encodeing)
* The ability to record, pause and rewind live TV (DVR software)
* A range of shapes and sizes to fit your home and your life
apart from all that 'iPod=hype'talk :
appearently more than 80 percent just prefer 'hassle free' over 'feature loaded'.
Medion products usually crappy hardware plus scary software. I doubt this will change in the future.
Yes!!! The first nonsensical anti-iPod rant for this DAP story made first post! Woohoo! Way to go, you intellectual superstar! I hope you go buy one of these. Heck, buy two! Why not!
Actually, based on post #2, you'd better buy three. Just in case...
AFAIK here in Holland Medion computers and accessories are sold only at the cheapest, most low budget supermarket chain. The kind of super market where they don't even take the products out of the boxes they ship in, just to cut costs.
'nuff said really. I'll stick with my iPod.
I currently own and use a medion 95200 ipod clone. It was $200 cheaper than an equivalent ipod so i bought it. I have a few beefs about it, the main one is battery life.
I get about 2hrs battery life with it in heavy use and about 3hrs if i let it play by itself. But it can be charged with a nokia phone charger so i get around the battery issue with that.
Nobody seems to have commented on the note that it's Hard Drive based instead of flash, like an iPod.
4GB is perfectly possible to accomplish without a hard drive, and gives longer battery life, smaller size, no moving parts, and no chance of a disk crash.
So the iPod is just going to have all those advantages. It seems a bit late in the game to me to be introducing a 4gb hard-drive player. Why bother?
looks good, wonder if it will hit the uk
Well i have been hearing Medion products but i have never tried them...but hey Come on !..I know it will be Ok.Dont they give out samples ?
What's up with every asian made DAP and those crappy, ugly, big-as-hell fonts?
Have they heard of Arial?
haha i don't care about the fat fonts, i just want a level over load meter on one of these line-in recorders!
