It must be really great to live in Asia (Macau, to
be exact) where you can get Apple's latest iPod -- like the iPod mini 2, pictured here -- literally months before it's
announced. And for HK $950 (about US $120), no less.
So do any of these fake iPods (and this is the first I've seen that actually dares to include the Apple apple) actually work with iTunes? Are they supposed to convince the buyers that they're the real deal or just "impress" the friends of the buyer?
jeez, engadget--everything is an ipod knockoff with you. just because it is an mp3 player with a circular button scheme, an apple icon and the word 'ipod' on it.
I own one of these. It's actually a Coby (I'll get the model number if anyones's interested, but it's not listed on coby's website.
It playes native most sound files (ogg, mp3, wma, etc.), it displays jpegs just fine, and comes with a converter to change most video files into a proprietory format .dmv.
Mine doesn't have the ipod logo but the rest of it is identical. I got the 512mb version for $99.00 at my college bookstore.

debra, all that was said was a character description (cheap), where they are geographically (asian) and a reference to their parents' marital status (bastards).
i seen these in china back in november 2005. they were about 300yuan which is about 40 dollars i still have one. one stall sold them with and ipod logo and the other with a sony logo. lol
You sound like morons trying to explain your racist comments, and then you double-up by trying to insult the person that calls you on it. I bet you're a....jackass?
Take the hint, and try not to be an offensive little twit, it might lead to a bit of positive growth for you.

How do they get away with this. I know it's Asia but they're freaking using Apple Logo!!!
Can't Apple do anything?
Wow

Heck, if nothing else you get a 256M mp3 player for $120. I could care less if it playes iTunes.
Aside from that, if it Apple doesn't come out with a Terrabyte iPod mini, then it's probably fake anyway.

Get off you politically-correct high horse.

Apple will do something about it - someone has to make them, they'll be tracked down and spoken to. Probably :)
