EPC Fidelity-T PC: HD, 2TB, 3GHz, $7,400
We
keep expecting the bottom to fall out of the market for these luxury home-theater PCs, but it just doesn't seem to
happen. In the year since we recoiled at spending $7,500 for the OnCinema Teatro, more boutique
manufacturers have brought out their wares, with the latest being the UK's Entertainment PC. The company's Fidelity-T
has some impressive features, including an HD tuner, 3GHz P4, storage capacities of up to 2TB and a dual-layer burner.
But $7,400 (that's for the 2TB version; you can get a 300GB version for a mere $5,300)? That's almost double the price
of VoodooPC's Aria, which we thought was a little dear at $4,000,
and which has most of the same features, plus a touchscreen LCD. Still, we imagine EPC will sell a few of these; and at
that price, they should only need to sell a few to be a fairly successful little company.

WOW, just imagine what you can store on 2TB however it is to much for my pocket :(

Yeah, it's too much for any normal person's pocket. This thing is way too pricey, and unfortunately it's exactly what I've been looking for. I'd be willing to send a whole months worth of pay their way, but I wouldn't even be halfway there at this price point. My guess is I'm going to have to wait at least another 2 years before I can spend enough to get a machine like this. Notice I didn't say I'd be able to "afford" it, but my willpower will only last me to the point where a months pay will cover it. I'm anxiously awaiting that moment... the moment when I bring this thing home and lie to my girlfriend about how much I paid.

I need to get in the media box buisness.
I just built a dual proc (amd 2000+mp's) with 500 gigs of raid 5 storage for under a grand ($800) to be exact.
Mark it up 300% and I would be making a fat profit ... Not to mention I wasn't paying volume prices either for parts ....

Why does it look like the illegitimate child between a Nintendo Revolution and a PS2 1st gen system?
Other than that it looks like the face plate is bigger than the body, like its suppose to be inserted in something.
anyway I would not mind 2 TB in a media player, and looking at the specs, a simple 6600 Nvidia, 3 GHz P4, ect... (unspecified parts anotherwords) do not justify the price like Ben says...

Is is just me or does this look a lot like the Revolution?

Is this thing made out of platinum? There's no way I'd pay that much for a HTPC... unless it was a HTPC / automoile! Jeebus Cripes...

Im with BEN, u can make a clone of this system, actually a better one for half the price, there some cool media cases with 7in touch screens, which look pretty sweet,

plus id be tempted to stick in a 150Gb W digital rapator HD same as in the new XPS, not only because it fast, it also see through!! even tho its in a box, i would know it is a cooler one!! stick in another few 400Gb WD discs, bump it near that 2TB Mark
Slap in a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ or even Dual Core FX60.

These are not gadgets and I don't understand why Engadget continues to post ~purportedly~ audiophile quality components so their readers can pi33 all over them.

Looks Promising! anyway I would not mind 2 TB in a media player, and looking at the specs, a simple 6600 Nvidia, 3 GHz P4, ect... (unspecified parts anotherwords) do not justify the price like Alex says...
