Jens of Sweden MP-500: audio, video, bling
Looks like Jens of Sweden is back with a vengeance. The formerly bankrupt company has managed to
come up with the MP-500, a sleek player in a familiar form factor (the company's press release arrived with a subject
line boasting of the player's "nano format"), that includes audio, video, FM, voice recorder, and built-in
speakers, with a fairly reasonable price of $242 for the 2GB version (a 1GB version is $189). Oh, and to differentiate
this from that other "nano format" player, Jens is boasting that this one is scratchproof, and is available
in both black and a bling-worthy gold finish (for $274).
P.S. -We thought it looked familiar. Thanks to Darth T for reminding us where Jens of Sweden's really getting their devices these days.

According to their pressrelease it has a 24 carat gold back side...
texass @ Jan 24th 2006 10:01AM
yea, some real bling with those nice tacky screws on the back..
wxrman @ Jan 24th 2006 10:03AM
Speakers?
Where?
Jaime Jones @ Jan 24th 2006 10:14AM
no i think the screws are cool not tacky. i think this is a great alternative to the "real" nano... but i wonder about two things:
1. is this product going to last or is it junk?
2. what format for video?
:)

The girl... is sooo hot. I'm moving to Sweden.

Like a 20$ hooker wearing a 10$ Target dress.

to #4: The speakers are on the sides.
I like the look and would get one if it had higher screen resolution. Who in their mind would want to wach video on a 128x128 screen? Guess I'll stick to my old Jens of Sweden mp-130 for a while longer...or get a Nano.

Uh, this vitually qualifies for Engadget's "Keepin' it Real Fake" classification... right down to the particularly sucky screws... about the only thing those screws would be good for would be future modding/battery swapping.

google "ichiban afm-61"
http://www.ichibanglobal.com/products/home_entertainment/product_display.cfm?product_id=AFM-61
oh look..it's EXACTLY the SAME!!!
holy clones-of-clones batman! what will we do?
PEZ @ Jan 24th 2006 11:21AM
the nano dosnt do video, so whomever was saying they are sticking with their older JENS or getting a nano, you musnt be fooled again!
Tony M. @ Jan 24th 2006 11:23AM
Scratchproof? Hmmm, maybe Apple could learn a thing or two from them?
Jared Dilg @ Jan 24th 2006 11:34AM
Where are the gold-plated hex-key screws? Those cheap Phillips head screws are so wrong.
Sara @ Jan 24th 2006 11:46AM
Unscratchable 24 carat gold? Good luck with that.
Chris @ Jan 24th 2006 11:48AM
8 hrs vid playback? Fking awesome!!!
Valentino @ Jan 24th 2006 11:50AM
Looks pretty cool.
Stu L Tissimus @ Jan 24th 2006 12:02PM
Hahahahahah. Unscratchable? Gold? It's the most malleable metal that we know of. You'd have a harder time scratching a spoon of butter than scratching one of these things.

Sweet! A metallic gold back! Yet another feature the iPod doesn't have that people really need! iPod buyers are brainless morons! This is soooo much better! It also has a WOW sound effect. And it records audio! Because I love to hear the sound of my own voice! The iPod wishes it was as cool as this. I'm going to buy one for myself and each of my friends! ..cough, sputter, spit, glurg..
underbiteman @ Jan 25th 2006 11:26AM
AHHHHH! the B word!
Squirrel007 @ Jan 25th 2006 1:48PM

smersh @ Jan 27th 2006 5:51AM
