Xbox 360 camera to debut soon alongside Dashboard update?

Not much of a surprise, since we've been seeing this Xbox 360 cam here and there since before their MTV launch, and even saw the unit laying around the Xbox HQ during our recent tour, but it's being rumored that Microsoft is getting ready to release a big update for Dashboard to squish a bunch of system and game bugs, and to bring support for a camera accessory which will supposedly be released simultaneously with the update. No word on Microsoft's exact plans for the camera, but hopefully we'll see some EyeToy-esque functionality so that Sony fanboys won't have to be the only ones looking like fools in front of their TVs.

If it gives me the ability to map my face onto an in-game character I am all for it.

If it is used simply to have video chat I don't think I would use it.

I don't think this is going to sell because the main stream gamer or the avarage gammer does not have an xbox 360 yet, only the hard core gammer (that waited 12-24 hours on line)has one and I don't see them using this device.

#7 i aint a hardcore gamer.....but i have a 360, they aint hard to get lol, i went in to Dixons and asked for one, they said sure n sold me one.

they have 9 more instore last time i checked, which was yesterday.


i baught mine a month ago.


i will b gettin this cam tho just so i can mess about with it.

to keef: xbox 360's are still hard to get in some places. i work at a videogame store in rural indiana and we STILL have 4 reserve orders to fill for the 360. congratulations on being able to score one haha, even if it wasn't hard.

How abouts they update it so I don't need media center to play video from my pc on my xbox 360? Who cares about the camera I've got XP pro and don't need media center. Doesnt matter any way they wont open it up, sucks for you guys I bought mine through dell last week got it in two days of it shipping.

Fuzion, How about the update the keep whiney little punks from complaining about stupid shit. They said from day one that MCE would be required for streaming. The fact that you can even stream music from vanilla XP is a pleasant surprise. I suppose youre also mad it doesnt fetch beer or cook you breakfast. It also wont view webpages or pop popcorn. But no one ever said it would.
