The CX 200 Portable Director II cellphone jammer for the polite
Here's
another in a long-line of cellphone jammers -- the CX 200
Portable Director II. Yeah, it's not even remotely legal here in the US of FCC-A but who amongst us hasn't jonesed for
something this discrete to bring a satisfying end to the inane prattle nearby? This device is specially tuned to
continuously jam the popular Japanese carrier frequencies for 70 seconds and even allows you to politely fade-out a
call you'd rather not be taking "with natural atmosphere" rather than attempting a throaty fake all Michael
Winslow like. Just $71 buys you a taste of moral grayness.

1 Point is... I shouldn't have to get the theater manager. It's called respect. 2. With this technology, why couldn't they make one that will not interfere with calls made to 911. 3. Make one built into classrooms that disables texting during class hours. Many of my neices and nephews are either texting when they should be learning. Not only is our future getting stupid (relatives included) but the teachers aren't allowed to use corporal punishment to resolve it. As for the annoying asses in theaters, why don't we all resort to good old fashion violence? Theaters are poping up all over the place and once banned from one we move to the other. God knows that when someone is hurt in a theater due to kicking the crap out of them some kid will jam the call made to police. Wouldn't it be great? Techology is our friend people, learn to use it wisely. I have, that's why I posted this comment here. Have a great day! (unless this comment was jammed)
Just curious; how much time did you save by speeding and crossing the double yellows? It's not fun picking up body parts or partial bodies and trying to save them. That's why I'm not a paramedic anymore.
God I'd love one of those for class or the library.
Is there a device out there that would 'latch' onto any nearby Bluetooth headsets and blast the moron wearing it with some sort of annoying noise? Some idiot was sitting in front of us at the movie theatre last night and his headset had a flashing blue LED that was driving us insane...
Nobody besides law enforcement should be allowed to buy those.
Just imagine some kid using one of those after a major accident!
I have to agree with Comment #3.
In itself it would be nice to be able to cut-off certain annoying mobile phone users but... it could indeed be very dangerous as well.
Nice gadget though ;-)
All I ask is a jammer with a 4 car radius.
And that it won't cause cancer.
"Dangerous!" HUH? Come on... it jams the cell phone, it doesn't cause it to explode. "IMAGINE SOMEONE USING ONE OF THESE AFTER A MAJOR ACCIDENT!" huh? That wouldn't hurt anyone, unless you consider preventing hundreds of "oh my god you won't believe what just happened to me" calls to be "hurting" someone.
Remember -- the world got along just bloody fine 15 years ago before everyone and their dog had three cell phones and a pager. We don't NEED these, people, they are a convenience.
I love your comment SO much.
We also go on well for hundreds of thousands of years without the ability to speak. does that make it ok to release gas that stops people from speaking?
Mobiles are part of everyday society and we rely on them. These are banned for good reason
"Oh what happens after a accident?" Get real ! after a ccident I imagiane that a person would be to busy calling for help and rendering assistance to turn on there jammer. What? you think that once this jammer is purchased it is permanantly turned on forever and ever? What does a on and off switch do? Good greif, wake up, get real, and grow up. I fully intend to purchase one. want my address and phone number so you can turn me in? Please do !
It's something discreet you want; discrete means "separate."
Well, it's all fun & games until someone does it to you.
Comment 7 makes a lot of sense. Not only does he appeal to a theory that has not been proven, he also equates use of a cell phone with a bodily function. Please save your sarcasm and make intelligent posts. Comment 6 made a good point at the end of his, we've gotten along fine for many years without cell phones. And if you are truly concerned about one child blocking everyone's ability to place a phone call you should remind yourself that every technology has limits and a jammer also has a functional range. Don't remove jammers completely, just limit their functional range. Then onlookers on the other side of the accident can still call the police.
Let's see, I guess shutting down the police officer's capability to use a cell phone at a fatal accident could have no consequences. Ya know like forcing him to call the deceased's name over the radio so that every bubba with a scanner knows that Joe Blow just died in a car accident. Or maybe Bubba gets to hear over the scanner that his first cousin Billy Bob just died in a car accident. Nothing wrong with that. Hey, I guess the very scrupulous local news media wouldn't release that information on the 10:00 news so the deceased's family gets to hear it that way.
I love the idea, but it's banned for a reason. I'd prefer the legislature make an "Annoying Cell Phone Talker" exception to assault and battery laws.
I think abigsmurf is onto something - we need to start producing that gas pronto. Send a large does to Washington DC and high schools everywhere (and give the teachers the antidote / gas mask).
As far as the OT, they should be legal for short-range use only. Make them prohibitively expensive through taxes, though, or else every bored 13-yr old will be causing problems.
Or better yet, the jammer could disallow others from making calls to the police in case of an emergency where no land phonse are accessible.
And honestly, don't give em any of that, oh, someone else driving past or who sees it froma distance will call the police, because BS. Lots of people see stuff that should be reported to the authorities, that they don't because they assume someone else will. The people who are involved need the ability, if at all possible.
Besides, tons of people would use them just to be rude, not to deal with rude people. And it won't just affect the person you want to nail. It will affect any user within it's range.
who in fucks name would use one of these at the scene of an accident? get real guys.
all people are going to use these things for is as mentioned in the post. cinemas, restaurants. libraries etc.
What's the range on this thing? I doubt it's that large. If the people that had an accident or the cop near by, needs to talk on the phone, they're likely not going to be jammed unless they themselves are carrying one.
And I hate to say it but the most frequent bad drivers using cellphones are the police themselves (though soccer mom's and SUV drivers are definately up there too). The cops can use hands free radios instead of the phones, and if you're worried about people intercepting transmissions, there are depts with scrambled/encrypted radios, they can use those.
I think there should be regulations on jamming, but I think it should be allowed in certian places (libraries/churches/theators/hospitals/etc...) If the people that work there need to comminucate they can use a different freq.
I have to say something. I read post day in and day out .. it is frustrating to read that people think that imposing their will on others non-discriminately is ok.
This is a BAD idea and should forever remain 'banned'. It is not your right to say when someone can and cannot speak. especially not in public. period.
If you have a problem with someone's conduct, be a man (or woman) about it and talk to them. Try to avoid sneaky underhanded techniques. The guy in the theatre .. try this .. : tap the guy on the shoulder and ask him to turn it off. if he refuses ..talk to the theatre owner ..:
Everyone needs to take some responsibility here .. don't act like cowards and shifty little kids ..
example of the danger of this mantality and behavior of everyone thinking they have the right to impose their will or even the law (that is for hte polic to do)..
one evening i'm driving a single lane (per direction) road trying to get to my sisters house because she was sick .. was i speeding .. YES .. .. i saw a car a about 1/2 mile ahead and put on my blinker indicating that i would pass (over the broken yellow that i know was there) .. once i started to pass well before being too close to the car .. he all of a sudden veered his car in my lane ..(on coming traffic mind you) i cut back into my lane and he veered again towards my car .. almost running into a ditch .. luckily i have a nice fast car .. i just accelerated faster than he .. then i pulled over and had thought of smashing his window with the bottle i had in my hand .. . i decided not to stooop to his level .. he rides by and yells .. the speed limit is 55 or waterver as he drove past .. i just took his license plate and reported him to the police .. like he should have done . .had he had a p roblem with me .. we are citizens ..we are not authorized to police everyone else except for in the most dire of circumstances and even that is unstable legal ground ..
eveyone should grow into their responsibilites and condcut themselves as responsible citizen ..
think about it people.
They're banned for a good reason? Yes, for the FCC to maintain strict control over our airwaves -- the same good reason that kept owner-operated radio off the air for decades.
Here's a good use: you know how obnoxious it is for someone to be on their cell phone in a movie theatre? Try being a stage actor, doing a LIVE performance, and have some schmuck answer their phone and carry on a conversation while you're trying to remember your lines and while other people are involved in the show. Until recreational TASERs are approved for such instances, I'll be praying every night for access to building-wide jammers. And those are completely legal and are going into widespread use on Broadway. Ah, to able to afford such a device for our own theatre...
"Any Society that gives up a small amount of freedom for a small amount of security loses both and deserves neither" - Ben Franklin
Part of having a free country and being able to block other peoples conversations for my comfort, means the sacrifice that they can block mine
If this ever makes it, wait until 12 year olds get a hold of these. Definatley the next Laser pointer.
Banned, not banned. Whatever, I use my SH066P Handheld regularly on the train to block jackas*es from talking on their phones and it feels just great.
And it's a lot of fun. I only turn it on if the person is loud, obnoxious and taking too long. Not emergencies. (which account for what, < 1/2% of cell calls?)
As much as I would love to have one for the movie theaters, I also have to agree that it could be dangerous as well.
Here is the "what if".... What if someone was being attacted and managed to break free. As that person is running away they try to call 911 for help, but can't... Why? Beacause the attacker is holding one of these.
Just a thought.
I really need a spell checker.
While I'd love one of these, there are times when peopl eneed cell phone access. For example, the residence life staff at almost any colelg ehas on call officials to deal with emergencies. On call doctors also need cell phone to be called in, and as a military dependent, i can tell you every military guy in any position of authority or responsibility has at least a cellphone (Usually a cellphone plus a Blackberry).
I think there should be some regulated jamming- resturants, theatres, cinemas, churches, rush hour (I only wish), but some people do need phones to protect people's lives.
I wonder, it does 800MHz and 2000MHz... will it kill 850MHz and 1900MHz as well?
I have a question for people who use these, what gives you the right to interfere with other people's personal lives on public property. If you want to use these jammers on your own property, be my guest! But remember. Sure, they might be annoying, but deal with it! Like #16 said, ask them to stop, dont use backhand ways.
Grow up, people!
I second #24's question: what carriers will it block in the US? I develop software for cellphones, and get sick and tired of running for the garage level every time I want to see how the application performs when its connection is disrupted....
Yeah, because being nice about the situation and asking somebody to hang up is COMPLETELY out of the question.
Quick question - why aren't these, or something like them standard equipment on every military vehicle in Iraq? Seems like it would take care of the cellphone IED's.....
what about the guy who got in the accident because he was talking on a cell phone? not paying attention?
"I have to say something. I read post day in and day out .. it is frustrating to read that people think that imposing their will on others non-discriminately is ok. "
What, you mean like yakking on a cell phone in a crowded movie theatre? The door swings both ways...
"what about the guy who got in the accident because he was talking on a cell phone? not paying attention?"
What about the guy who got in the accident because he was to busy worrying about some guy on his cell phone in another car? Do your part keeping the roads safe by paying attention to your own driving first.
Can't wait until I can buy one of these things. It's about time!
I can't WAIT to get one of these. For the theatre, for the coffee shop, for the restaraunt, and ESPECIALLY for the airplane - all those annoying loud talkers talking about NOTHING consequential...as soon as the airplane lands and hits the gate BAM out pop the cell phones and every single jackass convo goes "yeah, hey, I'm on the ground, which you would know if I had sent you my itinerary and you checked the flight status on the website but still, here I am, it'll take me about 20 minutes to get out of here and get my luggage so can you keep circling the pickup area until I get out there..." HOW CAN FORTY JACKASSES HAVE THE SAME FREAKIN' CONVO ALL AT THE SAME TIME?!? GAAAAAHHHHH!!!
