Hack-a-day's guide for homebrew on your 2.00-2.60 PSP
We noted the other day that PSP firmware versions 2.01 through 2.50 had been breached by some
homebrew types, but now hack-a-day has the low down from C.K. Sample III on how to get some homebrew running on your
own PSP, including those running the latest and greatest 2.60 firmware, which was just hacked yesterday. It involves
Grand Theft Auto and a bit of faith, as usual, and the eLoader can't quite handle all the homebrew that's out there,
but give 'em some time and you should have a nice little setup for running whatever you please on that shiny little
portable.

Since everyone on those psp forums seems to be completely moronic, and seven, can someone tell me how well the snex emulator actually performs via the GTA hack? Im considering trying it out but if the frame rate is down in the 10's I don't feel like wasting my time. Thanks.

Well this is at least good for the game industry because it only runs homebrew software and not illegal pirated isos. Fanjita has alowed us to play just user-created freeware which I consider to be a very good decision.

So...someone who has done this stuff....how long does it take to boot homebrew now? 2+ minutes?

Yeah, I know the kid who dreamed this up...it's interesting, and it totally works.

Does anybody know if the PSPRadio would run on this?
dave @ Jan 31st 2006 5:54PM
well this sounds promising. Its so far been a choice between latest features or homebrew, would be great to have both.
I have GTA so ill give this a go later, so far its something i havent looked into for the PSP as the extra framerates of 2.60 were more important :)

I'm running 2.6 firmware and loaded this thing. I would have to say that at least 90% or more of the ROMS I tried don't work. But, at least the eLoader works, so it's a start.

PSP should get some kind of award for being the most frequently hacked console.

#10 I have 2.5 as well and this works fine for me. I got the Snes9x emu working just fine. A little choppy framerate but still works perfect with all my roms. Fighting games like MK2 and Killer Instinct are impossible to play with the choppy frame rate but other games work fine.
