LG F9200 lands at Cingular
Motorola's SLVR
L7 isn't the only phone Cingular Wireless added to
their lineup today. The company has also begun selling LG's F9200, which boasts a slide-out
QWERTY keyboard, IM and e-mail capabilities, and a low price of $99 with a two-year contract. The phone also adds a
basic camera (VGA), something its predecessor, the F9100, lacked. Otherwise, it's a basic
messaging phone that will suffice if your text communication needs are fairly modest (or you're a txt-happy teen), but
won't sub for a smartphone if you need to do real work on the run.

no where near as cool as cool as my VX9800.
TIMMAH! @ Jan 31st 2006 2:06PM
How well does this phone work for checking email like Yahoo and Hotmail?
Christopher @ Jan 31st 2006 2:30PM
That screen looks really really small.
PEZ @ Jan 31st 2006 4:56PM
Screen is the same as the earlier model, I believe. It needs BT though! I think that should be basic buy now.
Sort of reminds of of a tinier version of the HTC Wizard. With nearly none of the capabilities though!
BAsic POP mail with this model, I believe.
MoToExEc @ Jan 31st 2006 6:02PM
Maybe its just me but that phone looks like a mirror image of the slvr

I have the LG F9200 and the phone is terrible. The interface some dumb. I sure hope the made some fundamental changes or this thing is worthless too.

I totally love this phone. It is awsome! I got it for christmas this year and the only down fall is that it does not have bluetooth. It takes great pictues and the ringtones sound amazing!!!
jrdiaz @ Dec 15th 2006 1:51PM
I was wondering if you still had the lg f9200. If you do. I was thinking of getting it and saw 2 things in the online manual that I wanted to ask about. It is true that you can only type 40 char in the notepad? Can you name each notepad reference? Can you use the Qwerty keyboard on contacts and calendar? Thanks.
industryspy @ Feb 1st 2006 12:13PM
#6 I assume you mean you have the 9100 and not the 9200 because the 9100 was the one with all the issues. I have been using the 9200 for a few weeks now and while it is not a full featured at the 9800 if all you care about is IM/SMS and some occasional web browsing this phone rocks.
Herman @ Feb 1st 2006 1:23PM
why does CNET have no review for this phone.
CeAsE @ Feb 1st 2006 1:37PM
This phone looks similar to the Sidekick 3 "product roadmap" posted here: http://www.engadget.com/2005/11/26/sidekick-iii-product-roadmap-revealed/
- Lower right-hand side, underneath the "Sept 07" text.

This phone is the cheapest COLOR phone w/ a qwerty (besides the 9100). I like the A630, but its too expensive [for me, and NO I'm not a cheapo I recantly bought an Xbox 360 myself {no CORE};{I'm 15 years old}]
That alone should win you over [plus it has a camera].

I love this phone except mine won't let me store more that 3 real music tones before it says memory full. And when I try to go back after deleting some of the default tone...it still won't let me download anymore than 3. Also, it only let's you have 7 catagories to put you contacts in. And can some one please tell me if there's a way to turn off those damn alert tones without having to put my phone on silent?? I don't need my phone to make a noise everytime it tells me it send a message. With all that being said..I still am in love with this phone.

I have a question... i want to buy this phone. I think its pretty cool. Better than just the flip phones with no keyboard. I want to know if i should get it because i dont want to make a mystake. Can anyone just tell me if its a great phone or if there are too many probloms with it. Is it about as good as the LG VX9800?

Brittney @ Oct 5th 2006 4:03PM
I have the LG F9100 (the model that the F9200 replaced) and it is an excellent phone if you are a text-junkie like myself. So I am gunna say that the F9200 is a great phone too if it's an upgrade AND has a camera. I am in the process of buying the f9200 so i will be back to tell how i think it is.
Mike @ Nov 20th 2006 6:10PM

andrew @ Nov 28th 2006 12:38AM
i have one question and does this phone have a custimizable banner on the screen by any chance ?? please say yes
blair @ Feb 24th 2007 6:50PM
I have had this phone for 3 days now and love it! The qwerty keypad make text messaging fast and easy. The volume is loud and clear. It is easy to use.
I have gone from a small flip phone to this so the size is taking a little getting used to, but its alot smaller and lighter than the Sidekick a friend of mine has. The internet is acceptable on download speeds and the camera takes decent pictures. Ringtones that come on it are nothing special, but that's not a big deal. Anyone looking for a good deal on this phone check out eBay. That's where I found mine.
