So to everyone's enormous
surprise, it looks like Microsoft's issued the first -- though certainly not the last --
patch for the Xbox
360 Dashboard. It's not hugemongous update in itself, but it does address fixes to the Xbox guide, increased
"last time played" stats accuracy, network issues for gamers in the Netherlands (uh, yeah), and a
"workaround" on that pesky retail kiosk demo disc, um, issue. Of course, any time a software / firmware
update for a game console gets out in the wild, said device's chances of
getting hacked are also
increased, even however so slightly on a locked-down box like Microsoft's -- so modders, keep those fingers crossed!
Oh, and no word yet on that 360 camera (but we have a feeling it's coming sooner or later).

I didnt notice any difference. Now i was able to bring the 360 to the hd tv lastnight and DAMN!!! its been a few weeks since i played the 360 on the HD tv and It appears i have forgot how great this sucker looks on the system. And fight night was played on the hd for the first time lastnight. God its good to be one of the people who have had no issues with my system.(unless you count standing out in the rain for the thing to come out in the middle of the night) Now just one idea for the ps3 please come out in the summer. Its to cold in novmber.

What's the point in patching this thing? Noone freaking has one yet. They need to stop worrying about patches and start worrying about those of us with 700 bucks sitting in our pockets that are waiting for an opportunity to buy the damn thing

They've sold 600k which isn't exactly no one now is it, and it's not like they run the risk of you buying any competing next gen console either.

Sam - where do you live?
Jake @ Jan 31st 2006 12:50PM
More than 600K sold, according to the financial discourse over 900K in the US, 500K in Europe, and 100K in Japan.

Even better, you can use this application to alert you on your mobile phone as soon as one is available at a BestBuy or Circuit City store near you. Its free, give it a try. http://untitlednet.com

Atleast the update only took like 30 seconds. I like that stuff.

They didn't include the long awaited background downloading in this update. Instead they decided to invest their time in locking down the kiosk disk. Which contains promotional trailers and demos. Which could also be called advertising. Which could possibly make some money for MS. But they locked it down.

I don't know how hard they are to come by...I got one at launch, and picked up a second at Best Buy last week. Even Wal Mart had four Pro systems in stock a few days ago.

Any body else notice this update wreaked havoc (well, maybe not havoc, but nusiances) with Madden 06? Any time you try to kick (be it feild goal, kick off or punt) it wont let you do it without audibling or calling a timeout. That pisses me off. A game that has lost a lot of features to its predecessor and now the dashboard patcj adds bugs? I for one called that the last straw and sold it back. Now if only they would patch the important stuff, like letting me watch my video's and UMD's off my psp through it.

>Netherlands (uh, yeah)
Yeah let's only address issues on this site that are related to the United States of America, the big economical and political power of the World!! Blluuurrrrgggghhhh...
