NEC's 20WMGX2 is US-bound
NEC's 20.1-inch
1680 x 1050 widescreen monitor we saw out in Europe the other day, the 20WMGX2, well, she's a
States-bound according to NEC. Expect this 6ms response time, 400cd/m² beauty to have a 1600:1 contrast ratio
though, which even sweetens the deal, along with DVI, VGA, coax, S-video, component, and composite inputs and a speaker
attachment. It'll also be making the trek with the 19-inch SXGA 90GX2, and the 17-inch SXGA 70GX2 in tow, both of which
have a 4ms response time, 700:1 contrast ratio, and a 400cd/m² brightness level. No word on price or release yet,
but we have a feeling it shan't be long.

I'm looking at the response time of the LCD and I think 6ms is pretty awesome. There are only a very small handful of other monitors that claim to be faster. I haven't looked at the full specs, but when someone says 4ms response time, they are referring to a color to color response time, not a full black to white response time. BTW when you get contrast ratios that high (1600:1) and you find something with a response time of 6ms that is really freakin huge.

If yu guys took your heads out of each others butts you would see that this s an exellent monitor.
The guy in the top pic looks stoned as hell!
Seriously tho according to current owners of this monitor (various forums)it is very good and has excellent black levels, It also has the shiny CRT like coating on the screen which to me is a good thing. I hate the dull matte screen surface used on most LCDs.
That's one gay monitor.
Haha.
Justin beat me to it.
Even the third pic looks a lot like ersatz gay lit "it boy" JT Leroy's doppelganger.

Hey Justin, many of the Engadget readers are gay, too. No need to use terminology like that.
Thanks.
Terminology like what, gay?
It does seem to be a monitor catering to 'like minded' individuals.
Does that monitor have a built-in computer? Cause it looks about twice as thick as an iMac...
Finally a computer for black nerds, gay asians and electro clash chicks. It's about fargin' time.
monitor that is. ahem.
yeah, that is pretty gay
I am not sure if it is ghey but they should have put an attractive Asian woman on the screen like other companies who actually want to sell stuff.
That ugly guy is not doing NEC any favors.
He is almost as stupid looking as the OfficeMax model guy...
Yeah, that target market will buy...what?...3 monitors? Way to go NEC marketing!
That's always funny when I see people use the word "ghey" because it was started by my friend, on WoW.
This monitor is "gay"? You sound like a bunch of teenage boys. What about focusing on what the actual monitor can do and how it has been designed instead of whatever image NEC have chosen to mock up on the screen.
"should have put an attractive Asian woman on the screen like other companies who actually want to sell stuff."
Ide like to think you were being sarcastic...alas no.
Yeah, nobody ever said ghey before WoW in the whole history of the internet.
I'm sorry, how in the hell is a monitor gay?
I see a gray box with an lcd in it. yep, pretty homosexual. Can we get an engadget that requires age/iq verification before commenting?
Besides the thickness and that speaker setup (have on-monitor speakers ever been a good idea?) this looks pretty nice.
Specs on the 20.1" do look real nice. If they keep the price down on it, would be a great buy, especially with all those connections.
And yeah, I don't see what's "gay" about how it looks. Just a nice looking, albeit slightly on the thick side, grey monitor.
I'm assuming the speakers are detachable too, based on "speaker attachment", and the fact that they just don't look built in. That's definitely a plus ifyou don't plan to use the speakers.
