Samsung's (unannounced) SGH-E870 tri-band cellphone reviewed

Russian site Mobil.ru has thrown up a preview of Samsung's tri-band GSM/GPRS SGH-E870 handset. Built partially on the E770 platform, the E870 is 2-milimeters thicker than the Samsung Blade/A900 offering up a regular ol' 176 x 220, 262K color TFT display with a second 96 x 80, 65k color OLED display for use when the clam is closed. MicroSD support augments the 80MB internal memory allowing you take advantage of the phone's MP3 playback and MPEG4 record/playback skillz in addition to storing any snaps from the on-board 1.3 megapixel camera with flash. Overall, the phone comes out of the Babel Fish'd review looking like a winner although we're left wondering if the device has any dedicated music controls on the other side of that flip. No idea when this might be available in the US since Samsung hasn't actually gotten around to announcing it yet.

Wow!!! Finally - a Samsung-phone that doesnt look like a Samsung-phone. And even without Samsung sleepwalk-standard silver and/or black colours. Some design-team at Samsung HQ obviously dared to think outside the box this time.

Meh...I'm not impressed. I like my A900 a lot better than this piece. People say there is an Apple influence? Why because it's white? Uhh, no.

VERY NICE! It looks like a very good cross of American style design and Japanese style design. A cross between the Motorola Razr and DoCoMo N702iD. Street kids in Japan wear these things as part of their fashion. :)

I don't like the silver on the outside. Would have been a lot nicer it it was all white. Silver just looks so cheap on consumer electronics.

Wow, I just bought the Samsung A900 and all the features that are missing in the A900 are on this phone! It has 80 MB of storage space and can take mini-SD cards vs the LESS THAN 50 MB of the A900 and NO STORAGE CARD. The battery is 800 mAH and lasts around 5 - 6 hours of Talk time vs the 3 hours of the A900. The dimensions are 92 x 42 x 16 and 85 Grams vs the A900's 99 x 66 x 15.2 and 100 grams. Hmmmm.... It kind of sucks that they didn't put the same features in the A900. They obviously already had the capability to do so.... i am proud to have this mobile. simple yet elegant
