Google may generate
lots of hype for its West Coast
wireless plans, but the company is also planning on extending its WiFi service far from Silicon Valley. According
to reports, Google plans to bring wireless internet access to Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, along with six other
African cities. The deal was announced by Nigerian Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who said that
it was confirmed in a meeting she had with CEO Eric Schmidt.
'Card fraud cost the UK over £428m in 2006, and is steadily increasing', (www.thesite.org). What an incredible amount of money to lose to fraud! Yet, I have not read anywhere that e-mail scams from Nigeria contributed to this colossal loss, which apparently no one is really genuinely interested in investigating.
When my bank account(in one of the more popular banks in the UK) was raided last December, it was not through any e-mail scam from Nigeria. Why should anyone continue to make excuses or apologise for criminals who succeed only because there are like-minded people living in the Western shores who only get out-witted by their much cleverer counterparts purported to be living in Nigeria?
What a great idea from Google! May be proceeds from the bank frauds could be spread around a little bit more. Still as already pointed out, it is still better than gunning each other down, which should really be worrying people living in the West much more than scam emails originating/or not from Nigeria
