Report: PS3 to have a hard drive after all?
Among the many
mysteries swirling around the PS3, one that we thought was settled was the hard drive. Or rather, the lack thereof.
After all, Ken Kutaragi
himself confirmed all the way back in June of last year that the PS3 would ship without an internal hard drive,
saying that "no matter how much [capacity] we put in it, it won't be enough." And since then, all credible
reports pointed to the idea that a hard drive would be an option, not a bundled feature. However, we were struck by the
statement in a BusinessWeek article about the PS3 that the console would boast "a huge hard disk to store photos, music, and TV shows." Given that the
article appears to get just about everything else right, and was written by Japan-based reporter Kenji Hall -- who
apparently had direct access to Sony brass -- it would seem odd for this to be simply a mistake. (And Hall seems to know his Sony history, pointing out elsewhere in the article
that the failed PSX did have a hard drive). It looks like the
case of the PS3 hard drive goes back into the unsolved mysteries file for now.

All I wanted was a f*cking pepsi
So many people dis the design of the Playstation 3. Why? A George Formen Grill...I mean come on, really...A grill is so much better than an Easy Bake Oven :| Maybe I could cook some Flap Jacks on that power brick XD...
This whole hard drive thing I think is funny. I have a 360, and I am really curious why both companies could not simply offer a USB connection and leave it up to the customer. That way the customer could decide whether they wanted content saved on their system. Of course then neither company could then charge through the nose for this additional feature.
I am a little perplexed that Sony has gone to such a large box. From what I heard one of the reasons people did not buy the Xbox in Japan is because the box was so big. Now Sony seems to have created what looks to be a very large and awkward sized box. It will be interesting to see if national pride still inspires the Japanese to purchase the PS3.
#51: You must get your facts from an astrologist, or the National Enquirer. And if you really believe all that the last thing I can only ask is…”What color is the sky in your world?”
#45: I like that you are one of the few people who can just say hey I am comfortable with the Sony Playstation whatever version it is, and that is the one I am going to stay with, without bashing a competitor.
#42: I have kind of posted the same question as you about the cost of video games. If blu-ray can hold almost seven times the data. To fill up that space are they going to charge me five, six, or seven times the price? Which would be a very concerning thing to me? One thing I have noticed is product placement inside video games. If anyone plays Spinter Cell: Chaos Theory, I have seen a couple of product placement like AXE body products. As long as they are not obtrusive to the game, and do not affect the game play I do not mind things like that. And if those ads can help pay for the cost of the games and they pass that savings onto us I would be all for that.
The new LIVE offers downloads of movie trailers and music downloads too. Now MS I am assuming that MS is charging these companies to place this stuff on there, and if so I am kind of wondering if they have that avenue of income why they can not pass some savings onto the customers. Don’t get me wrong I think LIVE is awesome and worth it, but lets face it if we can some who get the service a little cheaper that is always a good thing.
Well,I have no Problem with the way PS3 Looks,All I can say that it is suppose to be 2 times tronger than the 360, and 35 times more stronger than PS2.I do have a problem with how the controller looks,I find it looks like a boomerang,But I still think it looks better than the first xbox controllers,You could drop that controler on a cat and break it's back. As for PS3 having a harddrive, I watched PgF gaming, and they are not sure if they will have a hard drive yet,it's 50/50 they want to put a HDD but they also are suppose to have a surprise that they will not mention until you see for yourself in March 2006.I hear rumours where they say the controllers will be wireless,I no for fact that they will not be.Both the Psx and Ps2 where priced at 300 dollars at launch, but im sure because of the new technology, plus if they decide to use a HDD, an estimate would be around $499-$699.They will not put the price over this because they want to compete with Xbox 360 and if they want to sell they can't have the price above the 360's price..Here are all the features it will have>CPU

Perhaps it has space for a large hard drive, to be added in later. The PS2 was rumored to come with a hard drive too when they made those claims that it would be used to download movies, music and games.
Just be thankful Sony is takin the time to think about what should go in the PS3 the xchop is already seeing big store returns because of melting disks and power supply problems(hahaha)Just like everything else Microsux they rush into something, rush it out and then have nothin but problems. Time to shelf counts only if your products arn't going to burn(xchop) or crash(Winblows) in the first month they are used. Just wait for the PS3 you wont be let down and you wont have to get your house insurance adjusted for risk of fire!!
