These newer communicators coming out look sort of messy to me. Everyone is rleeaseing treolikes and products to compete with keyboarded PDA - they just look sort of sad, regardless of the features. If its got a KB and has WinMo5, its really sort of the same crap everyone else has, it seems.
Would be nice to see more linux, products. At least you can skin those, for more personality.

Tzx, pretty ignorant comment there.
Windows Mobile is pretty skinnable, look at software like wisbar advanced ( http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/ )
WM is pretty high end, and a real platform, unlike the disorganized mess that is Linux handhelds.

Surur : pretty ignorant that you didnt really get what I was asaying:
Linux up front can be skinne dto how the manufacture wants. And I dont have to buy anything. The Winmo interface has no personality - and just because it looks like windows, dosnt mean its as simple to use.
So, ignorant? Lets see, where were you?

The reason we don't get the PocketPC Phones in the US at least is that the carrier don't see them as being worth the effort. I'm assuming its the same for a lot of the other speciality/niche phones.
The carriers know they are going to get more new accounts and contract renewals with phones they can give away for under $100. That's what sells. They cant' be bothered to test, certifiy, and brand something that is going to get less than 1% of the market.

Well, it certainly doesn't have any...looks, that is. Even a Treo 300 from a few years back looks better than this crap. You'd think that now that Siemens belongs to Benq, it would be rolling out more P50-ish Treo killers.

No edge and only USB 1.1 and a too small screen!

Unbelieveable lack of pragmatism here. Who cares if it's WM5 or Linux and whether its skinnable. Users who went from one Treo to the next clearly demonstrated that very well, thank you. They only care about usability, connectivity and durability. A few developers (or wanna-be developers) will shout about Linux or whether its open source, but the mainstream users (aka corporations) dont give a .... about that. Give them security, VPN access and they have incredibly powerful road warriors. Linux on phones? Who cares. [Now, this is not to argue that WM is high on my usability list, but surely higher than any Linux phone I've seen to date].
This just in from a CEO of a company that has 50% of its revenue, and ships 50% of our products, on Linux.
