LG's new 1600:1 LCDs
So LG is busting out some new LCD displays that, along with looking might
svelte, pack a new tech from LG called DFC (Digital Fine Contrast) which mainly sounds like marketing speak for
"we bumped the contrast ratio." The
displays can handle 1600:1 ratios, which is always nice, and the DFC technology also can detect whether you're word
processing or fragging, and adjust the display accordingly. LG's new lineup of displays with the DFC tech will be
available in April, but despite our model number-based conjectures of 17 and 19-inch display sizes, we don't have any
word on specs or pricing.

They aren't widescreen? Way to go, LG.
Why do we need higher contrast ratios?
1600:1 on a 17" or 19" monitor would be, well, pretty damned cool.
I wish someone would make a superior alternative to the Dell 24 inch widescreen. Sony's 23 inch is very good, but is super expensive. LG could fill the gap in the middle with a 23 or 24 inch quite nicely.
ahem, unless its a 12ms LCD!
All kidding aside this would be the perfect secondary monitor for Photoshop. But Im more than happy with my 19" Viewsonic VA902b (550:1 8ms)
Ironically, I am reading this on a LG L1720P. The styling actually hasn't changed that much... however I don't really see a reason for LG to change the style since they hit it so well to begin with
