Verizon Wireless sues telemarketers for going after customers

Verizon Wireless has filed suits against tree Florida-based telemarketing companies for soliciting its customers, saying that the two used auto-dialers and recorded messages in violation of Federal laws that prohibit such practices. The three companies, according to Verizon, made hundreds of thousands of calls to Verizon customers, offering them "prizes," including cars and vacations, and requiring them to return their call to claim the goodies. US laws prohibit the use of auto-dialers to solicit consumers who have to pay for incoming calls, which includes most domestic cellphone users.
