Meta, Bill Gates, Engadget reader
We don't mean to toot our own horn or
anything -- we'd be kind of surprised if Bill Gates remembered us at all (even though we've interviewed him twice now) -- but it still kind
of warmed our cold, robotic hearts a little to hear him namecheck us first when asked by Channel9 what sites he reads
every day (the clip is at about 11:00). So Bill, if you're reading this, we dig what you're doing on the daily too,
man. Like, some of us use Windows all the time.

Grrr.... I can't see the video. Oh, and I Agree with you #45... Comment#23(Jarod) is a jack!$$.
HEY MAC FANBOYS!
I don't see Steve Jobs saying that he reads Engadget.
- imacomputa
I may prefer some of apples software (mainly iMovie) and i own an iPod, but i have to hand it to BIll, that hes a lot nicer guy than Steve Jobs. Bill has given so much of his money to charity, and I have yet to here of Jobs ever doing such a thing.
Nice work Bill!
Hi Bill!
Don't let any backdoors in the security system in Vista! The British authorities are dumb in this matter! :)
If you read this, Mr. Gates, rest assured that your Windows XP Pro has not crashed on me once yet - and I'm sure I do alot more on this computer than the average user.
LONG LIVE APPLE!!!
Heheh . . .ehhh. Yes Bill Gates, you know, changed the WORLD and everything, but I still hate Windows.
*Slaps self for surfing away on his boring beige dell box*
Maybe engadget should interview steve!
ewww windows
Hi Bill, If you really read engadget could you endorse my website for all professional bloggers? or at the very least adopt me? I'm serious
I love all windows products, i think they are great. Anybody that says it crashes too much or what not doesnt realize that it is most likely not the operating system, but usually another piece of software not made by microsoft that is crashing the system, or that is a hardware problem. People should consider these things before bashing microsoft for having problems!
Anyways i love my 360 and if you want to play me on perfect dark sometime on the weekends just send me a friend request to my name (nizzy1115), I'd love to see if you've got some game!
Also i agree about making an ipod killer. Please please please make one and release it before with holiday season this year. I would be supper happy!
AND if your feeling up to it, set some money aside to develope a PSP killer as well that interacts well with the 360 (maybe wifi like the ds, and you can use your same xbox live gamertag on the portable to get extra points.) I would deffenatly buy this too!
One last thing...Can you make the xbox 360 have a patch or something that allows you to save game demos to an external hard drive? This would be very nice as my 20 gig is almost filled and my external usb drive can only hold my music for my 360. :( (I dont like to stream my music, 10,000 songs is a bit laggy over my wifi when searching through them.)
Also, on the 360 can you make the playlists able to hold more songs? Its frustrating that i cant make a huge gaming playlist of say 1500 songs and just play them on random everytime i turn on my xbox.
Lastly, can we get a web browser for the 360 please please. Sometimes im too lazy to walk over to one of my pc's just to check the weather or something, and having it on the xbox so i never have to leave it would be awesome!
Well i hoped you read all my requests and i hope you consider atleast some of them because i know you would not just please me but thousands upon thousands more too! Keep up the good work!

Matthew Baggett,
I have a valid, non-biased opinion: I agree with you :-)
#50 - has anyone asked him? I'd be interested... Although, of course, he does tend to be *making* the news these days instead... hehe.
Hello Bill
Its good that you are reading my comments.
Well, I am finding it hard to go all through the new stuff that's coming of with .net including vista, atlas, biztalk 2006.
Kudos on VS 2005, Mr. Gates. Seriously.
The interviewer is one of the worse i've every seen. What a lemon! No match for Rojas!
;)
/salute Engadget
/salute Bill
I dunno about you guys, but from the comments above, if I were Bill Gates, I'd be laughing my ass off right now.
Personally, I have no problems with Windows. It's caused me to have a job for quite some time. Nothing like the job security a Microsoft product (actually.. any software) produces.
Well, I gotta go restart.. Windows is telling me to restart after these 7 security updates (not joking).
PS: Bill, if you do read this.. I'd like you to autograph a 5 1/4" floppy I have of the original Windows.. you and anyone else from the 1970's era Microsoft.
I don't see Steve Jobs saying that he reads Engadget.
---
yeah, he's busy running two companies... who's done more in the last 3 years hm?
so, i guess, the average networth on an engaget reader is like... 50K now?
Oh, Bill. We're so close, yet still so far.
Hmmm.... Engadget is cool and all, but it's recently lost it's top place in my browsing habits to other sites. Therefore, hearing that Bill Gates - the king of getting on trends late - is an Engadget reader is no suprise to me. Maybe in 3 years he will pick up an iPod.
How about giving me some money so I can buy the Intel Mac? I promise I will not speak ill of you from now on!
Ofcourse he reads engadget. The site rocks.
Btw. Thanx for .Net Bill. It just makes things easier.
Can't wait to see Vista.
Bill you should let some of us guys who help out a lot of people with their XP problems to be beta testers as we have a lot of things we know people would love to see and they are so small but we never have a voice.
#18 - It's a good job I use Linux & Opera, then. I thought I'd be outcast, but it looks like Mr Gates loves Linux like the rest of us!
Now, I'm a reasonable man. I think I'm fairly intelligent, too. Mr Gates must be the shrewdest businessman in the world because Microsoft products are not the best in the world. I'm not saying their the worst, or that I hate them, I just can't understand how they got to be the most prevaillant.
Like I said, I use Linux. I do this because it doesn't crash and doesn't leak memory. It's updated frequently so any bugs/security holes are fixed promptly. It's also free.
I'm not rich enough to be able to afford to BUY an operating system. Then, on top of that, Windows users need to BUY something like Office to read & write documents. Then they have to BUY any other software necessary for their purpose. Is it just me, or is everyone else in the world absolutely loaded? I can build a top spec PC for under 500, but it would then cost me twice that to put the basic software on it if it were MS.
Wisen up, Gates. Lower your prices and don't use your user-base as beta testers - test your software before releasing it.
If Vista were cheaper, my employer might be considering it instead of trying to choose which flavour of Linux to run their blade centres...
flim.
BILL GATES IS GOD!
On the flip side, I feel Engadget deserves a congratulatory Hear Hear!
The site has only been around a short while, and it is being read often by some of the most powerful folks in the industry.
Great work gentlemen.
I have to admit that i first heard about engadget from another big shot of the IT industry in Forbes. So it isn't a big surprise for me. keep up the good work engadget boys.
as for bill, he has done right and he has done wrong. the situation is neither black or white, but grey. if i were him, i'd just retreat about now. he's almost 50 , why don't enjoy life from now on?
I, James Manning, am a troll: james.manning@mchsi.com
Hey Bill
Pay for my tuition please. I attend the UW. You know.. The college you like to pour money into :D
Hi, Mr gates...i'm on XP...it is not that good...and.....losing billions on your first console means that your not that good at business...and making the 360 was just a bad move (financially)...and pay the EU fine.....everyone knows those papers were full of useless info
anyway if you do read this click my name URL and say hi in the forums
P.S is it true you stole the source code for the first Windows OS
We don't mean to toot our own horn or anything--but we will...
OMG maybe if I write a bunch of crap then he will read it!!11!1oneone
And although I didn't read the comments, I know there were some anti-Microsoft comments thrown in....
All I have to say about that most of you use XP and love it....also, Visual Studio fo' life! .Net REPRESENT!
Bill,
A couple of years ago, I nearly ran you over at an intersection in Seattle. It was fun, thanks for almost coming under my vehicle. Great reflexes!
In actuality, it would have been a great loss to the world if I had succeeded in running you over; You're a top man! Great company, but even greater foundation. I have the up-most respect for you for all that you and your family are doing.
May I ask you for one trivial favor? No More Borders In Windows. Please, go straight from the application menu to the drop-shadow. I realize it is mac-style, but it has to be done. Borders should not be there in Vista.
What else? I'm a graphics artist; Give me a job.. or get me signed to a record label. Something, do it! ..or I'll bring my car to Mercer Island.
Bill gates, you are a homo.
I love engadget.
lolz all these people claiming to be Mr Gates.
Mr Gates I've sent you a few emails I know you don't answer emails to billg@microsoft.com probably but please look at emails from tverbrug@etc... dunno if u still have them I'll send another. It's really important.
Thanks
