Nanoradio introduces smallest WiFi chipset to date

Swedish semiconductor supplier Nanoradio AB has just introduced what appears to be the smallest WiFi chipset yet manufactured. Dubbed the NRX700, the chipset has a total size of just 20 mm square and, according to the company, also has the lowest power consumption of any around. Nanoradio hopes the chipset will find its way into mobile phones and portable media players, and especially devices that incorporate VoIP, although nothing firm has been announced. Evaluation kits are now available for anyone interested with full production set to ramp up in Q3 of this year for any companies looking to outfit their matchbooks (or ultra-tiny phones) with WiFi.
